Band of Frequencies

All One Under the Sun

About Me

"Prepare to have your musical thirst quenched. Byron Bay's Band of Frequencies dabbles in the whole pallet of musical genres; Bluesy rock drips away into skull-melting lullabies that pitter-patter like rain into jazz-fusion grooves that inevitably wander off somewhere else altogether." -Travis Ferre SURFING Magazine, US.
"The Band of Frequencies are a collective of musicians hailing from Byron Bay, Australia whose heavy grooving tapestry of rock, soul and ambient acoustics explore the inner-most reaches of the sonic realm." Californian film maker Cyrus Sutton.
Goings On:
NEWS:Band of Frequencies next release is half of the soundtrack to a new film called "Under the Sun" by Californian film maker Cyrus Sutton. Keep your ears peeled for the double album soundtrack released on September 1st that also features the talents of one of Ubiquity records finest artists, drummer/producer/multi instrumentalist Shawn Lee. For more comprehensive information on the 'Under the Sun' Soundtrack Click Here
“Cyrus Sutton and I are S-T-O-K-E-D to be working with Band of Frequencies, their music crosses all genres in a very effective way. Sol Carroll’s guitar tones are the sh*t and their futuristic live audio / visiual shows tie it all together with the audience. Equally as important, the first time I met these guys it felt like we were old friends--these are the kind of guys I like to surf and drink pints with ! “Michael McFadin, co-founder Ubiquity Records

The crew at Surf Rock International set up a great tour of surfing and sounds through coastal towns Fukushima, Chiba and Shonan, then on to Tokyo. The Life Like Liquid soundtrack features some of Australia's finest artists and has now been re-released in Australia on Vitamin Records. Check www.lifelikeliquid.com for details.

Sounds Like: Sounds like..... Sounds like the Buzzzzz... made by the fly on the wall that was present when Jimi Hendrix met Miles Davis through Miles' wife at the time, saucy funk diva Betty Davis, who turned Miles on to psychedelic rock... amongst other things. That buzzing fly then flew through a Sly and the Family Stone rehearsal, landed on Larry Grahams bass amp before almost getting fried by the blisteringly hot valves within. That same fly escaped through a broken window on a swift breeze, heard a warm coloured scent and went on to locate the source... only be devoured by a blonde, fuzzy spider in the corner of George Clintons jam room. That spider then went on to spin a golden web between Bootsy's bass and the JB's horns when they were recording the classic album "A blow for me and a toot for you." That golden web caught a bee that had pollenated a rose near the Electric Lady studios just as Gill-Scott Heron walked by with a pencil and a scrap of paper. That flower was then picked by Jimi Hendrix at ten in the morning after an all night session and given to a beautiful passing stranger who pressed it into a scrap book. That scrap book was read by Bob Dylan whilst he was waiting for a cab after a random party at her house. He wrote a song about it that he played to a pot plant. The plant was picked, dried and went on to influence the soundtrack to life for an entire generation... And the next. But we just sound like the buzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
