The Leisure Society

In a matter of time.....

About Me

The Leisure Society consists of Nick Hemming and whoever happens to be nearby with a good ear & a kind soul. I started out playing in the atrociously named 'She Talks to Angels'. The singer and Drummer (Shane Medows & Paddy Considine) departed to persue illustrious careers in the film industry and I subsequently joined 'The Telescopes'. Eventually the Telescopes split but I continued working with Stephen Laurie & Jo Doran, thus 'Unisex' was born and, along with Andy Foster & Dan Thompson, we released the 'Space Rock masterpiece' Stratosfear (Double Agent Records). Yet again everyone went there own way and I continued writing and recording in my home studio under the Leisure Society banner, most notably contributing film scores to 'A Room for Romeo Brass' & 'Dead Man's Shoes'. I am currently collaborating with Christian Hardy on tracks for a Leisure Society album. We plan to have it finished before the summer is through. We are both very excited .........

Polar Water & The Gig Hiatus

Rats crowd the Lido perimiter. As night falls they stream in to gorge on the food stuffs left by the open air swimmers, too benumbed to muster an appetite. Jaffa Cakes are stripped of their layers. Ab...

Here Comes The Leisure Society

I dusted off my heart & headed for the brightly lit but dimly furnished Manchester Travelodge that I had the dubious honour of calling home. The elevator doors slid open to reveal a small man in a...
