About Me

I'm a freelance Double Bassist. I took up the Double Bass as a teenager in the early 1980's. After touring and recording in bands, most notably The Sting-Rays, a cult garage band with folk rock tendencies, I became freelance in 1990, doing session work with Morrissey, who's band I later joined playing bass guitar as well as double bass, on the much acclaimed ''Vauxhall and I''. I played on two further albums, numerous singles and tours before dropping out at the end of 1997. Live and studio work followed with various artists before joining Kathryn Williams in 2000 with whom I've done five albums, including the Mercury prize nominated Little Black Numbers. I've also worked with the following, Adam Ant, Siouxsie Sioux, Lady Miss Kier, Sneaker Pimps, Ed Harcourt, Mark Nevin, Boo Hewerdine, Nut/Cat Goscovitch, Thea Gilmore, Billie Ray Martin, Simon Warner, Paul The Girl, Mr. David Viner, Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry's great piano man), John Primer (Muddy Water's last guitar player), James Hunter, P.P Arnold and various others. As well as sessions and tours, I've done lots of TV and Radio work.Recently I've been recording and/ or gigging with The Memory Band, Lisa Knapp, Essie Jain, David Thomas Broughton, The Leisure Society, Pete Molinari and The Coal Porters.
