About Me

I'm a freelance graphic designer/artist/illustrator. I've always loved dark fiction, and most of my illustration work is in that genre, but I'd really like to get more into fantasy/dark fantasy illustration, as well. I write (dark fiction) when my creative juices are blocked. Or I just sleep.

I like to work in different media, depending on the project, or when I get bored/frustrated with any one in particular. To me they all have their pros and cons. I concentrated in sculpture in college, but most of my work over the past decade or so has been 2-d.

I have an online portfolio site at: www.butterfly-graphics.net

My Interests

Drawing, painting, sculpture, design, illustration, jewelry-making, stained glass, graphic design, web design, music, yoga, pilates, running, reading, writing, occult, myths and mythology, tarot, astrology, spellcraft, my family.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone interested or involved in the creative arts, especially with a penchant for dark art/fantasy/dark fantasy.

Music:

Most Alternative, Green Day, Ramones, Cure, Evanescence, Tori Amos, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Violent Femmes, Tool, Fuel, the Killers, Nine Inch Nails, The Who, Rolling Stones, the Doors, Pearl Jam, Black Crows, Edie Brickell, Nirvana, Goo Goo Dolls, Pink Floyd, Tesla, Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Avril Lavigne.

Movies:

I love horror movies. Anything extremely scary (not necessarily gory--we all know it's fake) or extremely funny is my cup of tea. I love all of the 80's brat pack movies. Sixteen Candles and Breakfast Club are near and dear to me. I'm not a big chick flick fan, although I've watched my share of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. I love Tom Hanks. And Johnny Depp--anything with Johnny Depp has to be good, even if it's called Chocolat.

Television:

I was a reality junkie for a while--kind of like watching a car accident. I couldn't believe what some people would do for media attention. I do like Project Runway and Miami Ink and I've been watching those Housewives in Orange County but that one kind of falls under my car accident reality show category.I rarely watch those one hour dramas because then I have to make sure I'm home to catch the next episode. Maybe if I learned how to work my VCR it wouldn't be a problem. The few I do watch include the Sopranos (never miss it) and Medium (although the story line is getting played out--she's psychic--we get it.) I love re-runs and old shows like I Love Lucy and Threes Company, etc. And South Park cracks me up.

Books:

Dark Fiction. Any good author of Dark Fiction--Stephen King, Peter Straub, Poppy Z. Brite, Ira Levin, Shirley Jackson, Tim Lebbon, Tom Tessier, Rick Hautala, Jack Ketchum--too many to name.
