COOLIE RANX -- Pilfers' frontman and former Toasters who is the LITTLE JACOB" character in Grand Theft Auto IV is hitting the road with the Global Rock Showcase. Coolie packed the house with Toasters and Pilfers and will do the same with upcoming gigs.
The Global Rock Showcase will be more INTENSE with COOLIE RANX and Dubb Agents plus local crews along the routing. No artist will sit and perform on these dates. Dates starts June 5th in Tucson, Arizona and will run through June 20, 2008 ending in Colorado with dates TBA.
Bad bwoy Coolie Ranx is a recording artist first but he has alwayz been an actor in the UK. So that Grand Theft Auto 4 part is no fluke.

Hello boyz 'n' gurlz. It is 10p.m. Do you know where your parentz are? Welcome to the D.I.A.'s "Global Rock" REVOLUTION. If it seems like D.I.A. is rising from the ashes like a Phoenix... Maybe we are. Maybe we aren't. Totally an "INVERTED PARADOX". DIA="THE TRUTH!! An' we are da krew some hedz do not want you to know about. Because, we will tie 'em to a wall of 15" woofers; columns of mids and screaming tweeters and pump the Global Rock sound into their veins. DIA is going thru in a full-metal-jacket and steel toe boots... Enuff o' dat.
Well... Billboard magazine acknowledged DIA Records' "global rock" sound calling it "a hiphop-rock-reggae crossbreed." Who are we to argue. Of course the music bible is correct. Our efforts are centered on creating universal muzik for the ages. Whether it's hiphop, reggae, punk, alternative or all of the above in any fusion combination, we want people to pop in (or download) D.I.A. recordings generations from now and say -- "this is timeless stuff". The "Global Rock" genre is any sound with multiple elements (ska/punk, reggae/alt. rock/dub, Rock/Psychedelic/Blues, etc.) The appeal is universal and not niched into one corner.
True grit is an important part of the Global Rock movement. We luv when it's a lil' ruff around the edges. Being slick and sugar coated is not D.I.A.'s style. We love keeping it rustic and grounded.
From a social standpoint, "Global Rock" transcends race, class, gender and age. It's about RHYTHM, CULTURE, RESPECT and total INCLUSION. Aight!!

The "Baby Why" version is a re-production of Sleepy Wonder and No Choice Records with Sleepy writing new lyrics to the rocksteady classic. Original "Baby Why" is a Sir "Coxone" Dodd's Studio One release recorded by The Cables (Keeble Drummond, Elbert Stewart, and Vince Stoddard) in the late 1960's. "SK8ING AINT FREE" -- PUNK MEETS SK8BOARDING!! -- VIVISECTION//8
Sk8ing and Punk are similar "anti" passions for youths making defiant statements of protest against the so-called norms or rules of parents and society that make no sense to them. The two sub-cultures go hand in hand and sometimes help in defining the identity and independence in the decision making process of a youth. D.I.A. Records decided to release the "SK8ING AIN'T FREE" track by ViviSection//8 online because it underlines the message of "FREEDOM". The track is about standing up for one's rights as well as outlining a true reflection of what real punk is. "Sk8ing Aint Free" is a raw, krustie, dirty live recording with imperfections and we luv grittiness of the track. Like getting involved with sk8ing, recording punk does not require a huge budget. If one has to spend a lot of cash on recording a punk project it simply isn't punk. DIY with what you have baby!!

Above illustration of "The Beast" was done exclusively for Fantra Zine in the mid 1990s by "Jimmy" Tennyson Smith. Tennyson is the artist who illustrated Bob Marley's graphic novel trilogy Lion, Iron, Zion for Marvel. Zion (cover left) was never published. Tennyson has also done many comic book covers including covers for "Man Thing" reissues. Jimmy Tennyson Smith is the artist behind Bob Marley's "Uprising" cover. DIA Records' "Stalag 20, 21 & 22 -- The next Generation" CD cover was painted by Jimmy also. This is a crucial artist with some incredible personal work.

ANGRY MIKE aka THE HARDCORE CHEF SHOWS TRUE FAN APPRECIATION.
Angry Mike has seen Sick Of It All three times since April, 2006, in Los Angeles, San Diego and BB Kings in NYC, Sept. 17, 2006, where SOIA crank out a crucially intense show to a packed house. That is a true fan. Angry Mike is one crazy character with a bionic hip that helps him to get great parking around San Diego. This dude is one fearless. While the kid who likes to play with fire was setting San Diego ablaze that uprooted so many folks' lives, Angry Mike was barbecuing and drinking beer while looking at the burning hills not too far from his house. This is an important footnote of how your kids will turnout if they grow up listening to Bad Brains and New York Hardcore bands. Glad to have Angry Mike as a friend.
