E.R.O.C. (EROC) aka Erik Fijolek was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. His parents are from Poland. EROC's father John Fijolek was the bandleader and bassist for his Polish band. With that early introduction to music by his father's band; plus growing up listening to groups like Black Sabbath, Metalica and AC/DC, definitely contributed to E.R.O.C.'s aspirations to be a recording artist.
EROC's childhood and high school Jamaican friend Kevin, further influenced who E.R.O.C. is as a global rock-dancehall-reggae artist today. Kevin introduced EROC to reggae powerhouse vocalist Garnett Silk. Garnett Silk became E.R.O.C.'s favorite singer and musical inspiration. Listening to Garnet Silk helped EROC to realize his natural abilities to deejay (MC-ing), singing plus writing lyrics, melodies and hooks. As E.R.O.C developed his skills as a deejaying vocalist, he took a vested interest in learning about reggae and Jamaican culture. So Kevin nicknamed Erik, E.R.O.C. which stands for "Exploring Roots Of Culture." Today EROC naturally chat like he was born and raised in Jamaica.
In 2004, E.R.O.C. created an impressive underground buzz. This buzz eventually landed him a performance on the Carson Daly show (2004), where his performance was well received. Wyclef Jean was a guest on that episode of the Daly Show, and both Wyclef Jean and Carson Daly were impressed by E.R.O.C.’s performance. Wyclef and Carson Daly talked about E.R.O.C.’s performance throughout the entire show. Wyclef Jean went to see E.R.O.C. in the green room after the show and kicked it with him... Blah blah blah!
E.R.O.C. spends a lot of time in the lab recording a never ending list of killer tracks. He has collaborated with reggae luminary Lukie D and co-produced some tracks with Chris Regan of Fear Nuttin Band. Enuff said about EROC. Just listing to the friggin' muzik yo... Hey YO!!
