Writing my way into and out of tomorrow

About Me

Sometimes too clever by half. Sometimes half clever. Michael's songs come from his deep Canadian Irish roots and blend his love of truth with his love of a well turned phrase. Michael has been writing and performing songs for more than 30 years, and has been one of those "just below the radar" songwriters that other performers scratch their heads about wondering why they haven't heard more of him. Michael's song Maria was featured by the Pomelo's in their successful tour of Ontario last spring...and bouyed by the enthusiastic responses from his peers in the world of songwriting Michael has thrown his hat into the ring...ok, not the really cool leather hat...that one he is keeping. You can hear some of Michael's music here on myspaceYou can also hear Michael's song Pax Americana featured on the anti-war compilation CD Afghanistan On Guard for Thee along with songs contributed by Ken Whiteley, Marianne Girard, Tannis Slimmon, Ken Brown...and 46 other concerned Canadian singer songwriters. http://standonguardproject.com/support.html The entire CD is also available for download at www.zunior.com.Myspace Backgrounds

Sounds Like: OOOh Ahhh. Ok he sounds like the bastard child of Ramblin' Jack Elliot and Malvina Reynolds....Musically Tim Hardin, George Harrison and Steve Goodman at his most playful all come through, deep in the background you'll hear the monotone rumble of Leonard Cohen and the rightious indignation of Phil Ochs with a wierd left turn through Jimmie (the singing brakeman) Rogers and the francophone pop picturesque story telling of Charles Aznavour. And of course like any good Canadian boy there is that hint of maple syrup, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot. Tough question. The one name answer is that he sounds like Michael Griffin. But then you know that.
