Live for the moment!

About Me

Hey All.......time to get personal........what can I say about ME? =) Well, I'm told that I'm fun to be around ....... I always have fun at parties & gatherings ....... "Social Butterfly", so to speak. Which works out very well, since I love butterflies so much. lol
I love spending time with friends and making new ones, as well. I always strive to see the glass half full and never lose sight of that ever-enduring silver lining. I always look for humor during bad situations......YES, I really do believe that laughter IS the best medicine!!
When I take that walk "down memory lane" I can't help but think, my life has been very exciting, so far. I learned to love to travel at a very young age. It was a thrilling experience hopping on a train... ship... or plane, and then, off... to a new destination! We traveled to many countries, the Far east, Europe, the Middle East and Mexico. I must say it was a challenge learning about different people...their languages...their customs...and cultures. So many times mistakes are made in trying to make the country you are in, like the one you came from. The beauty is in being able to adapt to their country and learn from them. We made many lasting friendships along the way and were able to be involved in humanitarian organizations, such as "People's to People's" where we would distribute food, clothing and furniture to many people who had nothing but barely the clothes on their backs. We American's and European's take so much of our daily life for granted. It was totally amazing finding people who didn't know how to use a toilet or who thought that a bar of soap was candy or hadn't yet experienced the pleasures of bathing or learned the importance of keeping themselves clean. Working with these people was a very humbling experience. On a small scale, being able to help them was like being an "ambassador of goodwill" for the United States. As we worked with these people seeing the smiles on their faces and hearing their laughter was such a joy.My father, a seasoned Naval Officer, instilled within me, strength and values that led me to this viewpoint::::~ Even though times are trying and we are pushed, again and again, beyond what we ever thought we could survive, there's never a good excuse for rolling over and giving up. We push through.......we persevere ...... we move on and we grow. And most important......we take with us, wisdom and experience. ~
" Ask not what one can do for you.....but rather, what you can do for others." =) I chose a very rewarding career, that reminds me, daily, to live my life to the fullest. Caring for the elderly and handicapped provides me with a never ending source of life's lessons.
So thats a little more about me. =) I'm a very open person so if there's any more you'd like to know, please ask. You can catch me on Yahoo at sugar_lipps12.

My Interests

My main interest is "LIFE", "LIBERTY" and the "PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS".... I'm here to ENJOY it All! LOL There is so much to enjoy... in this "big wide world"! Here is my small list of my favorite things that bring joy to my life: Number one has to be being able to help other people with whom I come in contact in work situations and volunteering in various organizations within my community plus being able to do random acts of kindness whenever possible. I love traveling, listening to and appreciating music, appreciating photography, appreciating art and art forms, people-watching(not to be confused with stalking, LOL), meeting new people, good conversations, I love the fragrance and socialness of drinking coffee or tea, cooking and baking, wine tasting, dancing, I love to see the joy on the faces of other people dancing, antique shopping, taking long walks on the beach, swimming, riding my bike, I love the tranquility of feeding the ducks at the duck pond, watching a beautiful sunrise, enjoying the beauty of a sunset, I love inhaling the fragrance of flowers and so enjoy their beauty, I still feel so happy riding on a merry-go-round or swinging on a swing also I love the creativity of being able to sew, knit and crochet, I simply love nature; moon and star gazing, boating, camping, fishing, hiking, gardening, bird watching, sight-seeing........ I'll try almost anything once. If it's fun, I'm into it!

..

A POEM WRITTEN FOR ME BY MY DEAR FRIEND.........

Her words are what first attracted him A message flashed across a screen A question, an answer ,a laugh shared Still, herself ,as yet unseen Roses and daisies, a background to mystery Covered by the words of her life Pictures abound, figures, places and sights Paying tribute to the one to whom she was a wife Beautiful lipps sucking lollypops Sensuality smothers every piece of the page A long, tall drink of water She is so much older than her age Her words are soothing and smooth And yet torrid and sultry hot Her innocence floats amongst the phrases All that it seems, it truly is not Her beauty is there for all to see But one has to look deep inside To find the real sweetness she possesses Shown with sheer naked pride She isn’t all that she appears to be Like and onion, one needs to peel the layers Exposing her hot, sultry side A sexy Madonna lies underneath the prayers But for all she is, a good friend is first For that she does so very well But if you become the lucky one On you she may cast her sweet, sweet spell
~ Island Man ~

I'd like to meet:

I enjoy talking, and meeting with people who are comfortable with themselves .... people who enjoy life & laughter but know the importance of respect, as well. I've always had a fairly open mind and love learning from other peoples' lives and experiences ... and I appreciate someone who I can share a meaningful conversation with about anything or nothing ... lol ... Life's too short to take things too seriously, so I don't waste a lot of energy on negative people ... a saying I find very uplifing is .... "Live the life you love and Love the life you live!"

Wherever you are, it's the people you love who make up your world!!!

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside-

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown-
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

YOU ARE A SUNRISE You enjoy living a slow, fulfilling life.
You enjoy living every moment,
no matter how ordinary.
You are a person of
reflection and meditation.
You start and end every day by
looking inward.
Caring and giving, you enjoy
making people happy.
You're often cooking for
friends or buying them gifts.
All in all, you know how to love life
for what it is - not for how it should be.

Books:

A Good Book is the best of friends, the same today and forever!
There's almost nothing I enjoy more than sitting in my lounge chair on the deck, in the warmth of the sun sipping a tall cool one, reading a good book. I love historical novels such as, Forever Amber, Jasmine on the Wind, Master of All Desires...... Then, I like Sue Grafton's A-Z murder mystery Series, Nicholas Sparks, he writes such sad novels, Louis L'Amour, Barbara Bradford-Taylor, Robin Cook's Medical Mysteries, Other authors include: Dan Brown, Francine Rivers, Anne Rice, Tom Clancey, W.E.B. Griffin, S.M. Gunn, David Morris, Robert Service, Robert Browning, Pearl S. Buck ...... etc. I love to read Cookbooks and of course can't wait to test the recipes! The book, "The New World", by: Stefan Lorant, gave information about the native people and colored drawings of plants and animals of what early America was like. Many people, including the early pilgrims in Europe had the opportunity to read this before coming to this new world. The book "Mayflower" by: Nathaniel Philbrick is an exciting, fearsome and adventurous story that tells of the perils the early settlers faced and endured after arriving in this new country, America.

Heroes:

Using the definition of the word a hero is... a person who is admired for their remarkable achievements, moral character and courage... my hero's include: My FATHER who was a distinguished Officer in the United States Navy. He retired after twenty years of service. My UNCLE who became a Prisoner Of War during World War 2, in the Philippine Islands. He was rescued from a Japanese firing squad by General Douglas MacArthur and our U.S. troops. My MOTHER, for her unrelenting spirit and zest for life. My GRANDFATHER, who never failed to take the time to sit me on his lap, and share a wonderful story. My older SISTER, who always managed to make the "big mistakes" first, so I didn't have to!! LOL Also, All of our MEN AND WOMEN serving in the U.S. ARMED FORCES, who are defending and protecting our Freedom. As well as, All who fought and paid that supreme sacrifice.
