The Mad Trist, which took its name from "The fall of the house of
Usher", a story by Edgar Allan Poe, was founded late November 2004 in
Maastricht, the Netherlands. After one year of developing their sound
and working on their repertoire the first 4 track demo EP was home-recorded
during October 2005 (download it at www.themadtrist.com).
With the first EP The Mad Trist entered a bandcontest called "Exit Live Prijs" where they came in third and won some studio time. Then the band played a bigger contest called "Weerter Amateur Festival"; they won with the highest score ever in the history of W.A.F. Quite an amazing achievement considering this was their 4th performance, which resulted in playing their 7th gig on the big Dutch summer festival "Bospop". There they shared the stage with bands like Nada Surf, Starsailor, Anouk, Living Colour and The Simple Minds.
With the studio time they won, two new songs were recorded during May
2006, "Fortune Favors Fools" and "Games", during October two more,
"Hair of the Dog" and "Primal Heat". These four tracks together make
the second demo EP, found on Myspace and for sale at live shows.
The band is constantly working on new material and playing live as
much as they can to take it to the next level. Go check them out!!!
