Jireël Verhage: Bass, 18
Christoffer van Teijlingen: Guitar/Vocals, 18
Sean Gascoigne: Drums/backing vocals, 20
The combination of (southern)rock/(post)hardcore on the one hand and melancholic, soft and renewing lines on the other makes their music, fresh and risky, wherefore their listeners are kept in inquisitiveness.

Sounds Like: Issuing their first EP "We Lost Sight of Ourselves," it's worth giving some deserved recognition to the Dutch indie-core trio, Sense Forward. Straightaway, the first thing to make the band stand out is vocalist Christoffer van Teijlingen who has a voice easily as good as any of the big indie acts out there. Musically, each new track is quite diverse, and it's obvious that the band is not hesitant to experiment and step away from the typical indie rock sound. On one hand this is applaudable and on the other it's risky, as demonstrated by 'Bless the Silence,' the harder of the four tracks. The song flows brilliantly but it's jolted by the chorus which comes across just a bit too metal-core for the accompanying music. Not wanting to strip the band of its desire to create something different and rough it up a bit, perhaps this otherwise good song just needs a different approach with regard to the chorus. The title track 'We Lost Sight of Ourselves' is reminiscent of later Blindside material, a bit melancholy, winding the album down to a good finish. While there are some rough edges the album is overall a very good start for the band. It's fresh, melodic, inventive, and a good sampling of the variety they're capable of producing.
