Michael Plater is a solo singer/songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia. Having previously played in various bands, Michael began playing solo in 2004, and regularly plays at many venues around Melbourne. Taking in various country, folk, gothic, lounge, and "noir' influences, his solo music has been compared to the likes of Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Lee Hazlewood, The Triffids, and Johnny Cash.In 2004 Michael released the 4 track E.P "These Mad Windows." This was followed in 2005 by the release of his album "Rented Rooms." The album was recorded sporadically between June 2004 and August 2005, primarily at Melbourne's Bakehouse Studio.
