I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a professional illustrator, a former pro musician who still plays, composes, and records, a graphic designer and art director, an audio engineer and producer, a TV director and producer, a photographer and videographer, an indie film director, a fiction, technical and comedy writer, and a hopeless dreamer.

My Interests

Art and Artists - Frank Frazetta, Alberto Vargas, Boris Vallejo, Roger Dean, Maxfield Parrish, Olivia De Berardinis, Brad Holland, The Brothers Hildebrandt, classical fine art, modern art, erotic art, other struggling sci-fi and fantasy artists, pinup art, pop illustrations, and the greatest art of all - nature.
Photography & Videography - art photography, special effects photography, fantasy art photography, pin-up photography, photo manipulation and retouching, film making, producing and directing film and video, pixilation, timelapsed photography, etc.
Music Creativity - keyboards, guitars, basses, flute, sequencers, drum programming, composing, recording, performing, producing and engineering, MIDI, sound design, etc.
Comedy - the Tough Crowd crew (Nick, Greg, Jim, Patrice, Vos, Judy, Keith, Colin, etc.), Brian Regan, Bill Burr, Greg Behrendt, George Carlin, Dennis Miller, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, Buddy Hackett (no one told more street jokes), Monty Python (still the funniest stuff EVER), The Comic Strip shows, The Marx Brothers, the list could go on and on.
I love just about anything sci-fi, fantasy, or future oriented - including movies, books, art, music, ideas, inventions, gadgets, people, places, clothes, designs - also includes space-age retro, streamline design, art deco, art nouveau, etc.

I'd like to meet:

Creative and imaginative people. People who see life in fun and unusual ways. Friends and fellow artists, musicians, writers, and filmmakers to share some laughs and explore ideas.
.
A NOTE ABOUT FRIEND REQUESTS I'm to the point now where I'm getting dozens of requests a day, and I really have no interest in having a "friends" list a mile long of people I really don't know and have nothing in common with. So if you sincerely want to be friends (and I'm a very friendly guy!) I now require all friend requests be accompanied with a quick note of hello and a mention of why you might like to be a friend. Otherwise I'll just ignore the request - this eliminates the need to wade through all the spammers, who never read this far!
Thanks for understanding!

Music:

My taste tends to run a little old school in this area, I suppose: Jean Michel Jarre, Genesis (Gabriel & Hackett days), Steve Hackett, Camel, Yes (up thru Relayer), PFM, ELP, UK, Kayak, FM, Gentle Giant, Liquid Tension Experiment, Yello, Ultravox, Devo, Missing Persons, Oingo Boingo, No Doubt, New Musik, Naked Eyes, ABC, Lene Lovich, Bruce Woolley, Thomas Dolby, Eurhythmics, Siouxie and the Banshees, Crowded House, YMO, Garbage, Billy Idol, Faith No More (Patton days), Patsy Cline, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kraftwerk, Led Zepplin, Chris Isaak, Dick Dale, Danny Elfman, Bernard Hermann, Jerry Goldsmith, Nino Rota, electronic music, experimental music, classical music, chamber music, and so much more!

Movies:

I really love a good film! Harvey, Dr. Strangelove, Soldier In The Rain, Lonely Are The Brave, Wizard Of Oz, Urgh! - A Music War, Narrow Margin, Asphalt Jungle, The Killing, Basic Instinct, Double Indemnity, Metropolis, Dune, Things To Come, Blade Runner, Tank Girl, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Swimmer, Edward Scissorhands, Manchurian Candidate, Strangers On A Train, Young Frankenstien, classics, documentaries, indy films, film noir, and much more.

Television:

The original Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Colbert Report, Andy Grffith Show, Dick Van Dyke Show, Nova, Liquid TV, Monty Python, Comic Remix, Aeon Flux, Adult Swim, real crime shows, documentaries, Gunsmoke (I don't know why, but this old show appeals to me sometimes), Strangers with Candy, Fear Factor, Fuse, Letterman, Babylon 5, British TV, not much modern American network TV though.

Books:

I Ching Book of Days (and Changes), The Ringworld books, The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress, Stranger In A Strange Land, Childhood's End, Left Hand of Darkness, 1984, Brave New World, The Etheric Double, Dream Analysis and Control, the classics. Authors such as Heinlien, LeGuinn, Clarke, Niven, Anderson, Pournelle, Orwell, Butler, etc.

Heroes:

I don't know if these people and characters are true heros, but they're ideals I aspire to be more like in some way: James Bond - as played by Sean Connery - so cool! Sterling Hayden - an interesting person, not so much as an actor. Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo - amazing singer, musician & composer. Frank Frazetta - an original and modern master of illustration. Khigh Alx Dheigh - opened my mind and heart to Taoism.
George Martin - genius producer of amazing music.
Johnny Depp - good actor, good looking, plenty of cool.
IN CLOSING:

Thanks for visiting my page here on MySpace. I invite you to write to me and share your thoughts on anything displayed or discussed here, or just to share your dreams, fantasies, wonders, worries, and imagination. Take care, and walk in peace and harmony with the world.
