I'd like to meet:
The guys, and gal, from Queensryche. They rock!
Burton Cummings. A concert of his back in the early 90's changed my life forever.
The guys from Iron Maiden.
I'd like to meet my fellow Calgarians who share some of the same interests as myself.
Learn more about me on my Facebook page.
Music:
I played guitar and co-produced the song by Tarry Trousers called She Moved Through The Fair.
I wrote, played guitars and sang, and co-produced Whiskey Sun by the Dust Rhinos.
I wrote, performed on, and produced My Heart Can Fool My Mind sung by the lovely Hannah Smart.
And finally it's a classic, the Beer Basics Theme. The theme song to a television show called Beer Basics.
Listen to them all on the player!
I've gotta say I love hard rock and heavy metal music. I have recently rekindled my love for Queensryche after seeing them in concert. They have moved up to my number one favorite band. But, my background and love for other types of music has given me a great pop sensibility. So I often write ballads and poppier tunes.
That being said, I love a lot of different types of music. My CD collection would make some laugh, other say "Woah! I didn't think you'd be into that". For the most part, like most people, I love a great song. It doesn't matter to me what "category" it has been placed into by the marketing executives. Some of my favorite bands include the aformentionedQueensryche ,Iron Maiden, Judas Priest,The Scorpions ,Ozzy Osborne,Savatage , Metallica,Helloween ,Deep Purple, , The Clash,ZZ Top ,Morrissey, The Smiths,Boston ,Harem Scarem ,No Doubt, The Killers, a little known heavy metal band from France called Sortilege, Dio and Black Sabbath, The Ramones, Monuments Galore, Queen and many more. I typically love bands with great vocals and harmonies along with dual guitars and an interesting story to tell lyrically. A song can still be good even if it is considered to be "pop" by the radio stations. After all what do they know anyway? I mean really I can listen to JP on an easy rock station nowadays!

Movies:
Lot's of stuff really. I like lots of Sci-Fi movies and horror flicks but mostly science fiction.
Television:
I've produced a couple of television series in my day. But I think for the most part TV these days is mindless crap. I find myself drawn to unusual shows. You remember, the ones with a good story and good characters? Yeah, I know they are hard to find. One of my favorite shows right now is called "Over There". It aires on the History channel here in Canada. I think it's already been cancelled. Figures. It's a Steven Bocho production. It's a modern day story of soldiers in Iraq. It doesn't paint a very nice light on the situation over there. I don't know how realistic it is in terms of actually military strategy but the characters are great and so is the writing and the acting. I think it might be shot in HD for those who care.In terms of the "reality" genre I can tell you from working in TV that there is no such thing. That being said I really like a show called "Long Way Round". It is Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor as they drive from London to New York on motorcycles. The series was shot in 2004 and is almost over. The two actors are great because they are charasmatic and funny and they are totally comfortable in front of the camera. They make you feel like you are there. It airs on OLN.Another show I enjoy is called "Survivorman". It's a Canadian production where they send a survivalist out into a situation in the wild where he has to survive there. The terms are usually set out like he was stranded or crashed there or something. He usually has to live there for a week or so completely by himself. He works all the cameras too! It's cool check it out if you can. It airs on OLN.I also enjoy the motorcycle shows, ultimate shows etc. Oh and professional wrestling. Yeah everyone needs a little white trash in their lives once in a while!
