.
When is a line not a line? When it's A-Line.
Brought up by hippy parents between South Wales and the Balearic Islands (her dad is from Mallorca), Gemma Tortella is the bi-product of the meeting between high art seriousness and teenage acid fuelled adventures. High art being experienced by her parent’s relationship with the Miro family and other artists and acid being the best fun to have in South Wales while growing up. This comes through in the music of A-Line, the band she has formed with her friends from Wales who have all made their way to London over the past few years. Together they sound like a cross between Love the band and a 1930’s jazz appreciation club with a place in their hearts for Nancy Sinatra.
Together, seperately or in pairs we have all played at: Reading * Leeds; Glastonbury; Latitude; Edinburgh Festival; Madame Jojos; 93 Feet East; Great Eastern Hotel;Spinning Jenny; Bethnal Green Workng Mens Club and more i can't remember as well as venues in Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester, Hastings.
Gemma is also known as 1930's country singer Miss Anna Kronist. Go and say hello at www.missannakronist.com
As well as this she is also a member of Burly Q, everybody's favourite girl/boy transvestite bad wig good moves burlesque troupe! www.burlyqlondon.com
