About Me

Formed in the winter of 2002 by local music scene veteran, Mike Holloway, The HMV Band were born to bring a new edge and originality to the field of Classic Rock/Blues. The founder members were joined by Gran Torino drummer Tom Vallings and started gigging in January of 2003. Over the last four years The HMV Band have brought their own form of emotive Blues and driving Rock music to numerous venues across the Midlands and are regarded as one of the premier live acts in the area. Now with a flexible line-up including some of the finest musicians in the midlands, they can tailor their performances to specific audiences and venues, varying from acoustic classics like To Be With You by Mr. Big, to My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama by Frank Zappa.The standard 120 minutes set includes songs from;
Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Bad Company, Free, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Bryan Adams, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Queen and many more!For bookings and information... Email: [email protected] or

Influences: The bands sound is shaped by their love of diverse genres, both personally and within the band line-up. Their driving rock sound is very similar to that of classic American R&B based bands such as Georgia Satellites and ZZ Top, blended with the precision and musicianship of highly influential bands such as Mr. Big and Steve Vai. On the flip side of HMV is the soulful blues and acoustic playing of Mike Holloway who takes his influences from old school legends such as Peter Green, Paul Kossoff and BB King. This again is counter pointed with his love of players like Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai and other speed merchants to perfectly display the bands capability to move from their softer side which of such songs as the Fleetwood Mac classic Need Your Love So Bad, to the searing legato guitar phrasing of Frank Zappas My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama with equal levels of conviction and emotion!Get Your Own! | View Slideshow
