MV&EE WITH THE GOLDEN ROAD Moment Spacing/Bong Judge 7" (Ltd to 500 copies) OUT NOW

Yes, you heard us right. We just got this summer loving bliss festival of a record back from the pressing plant and it is everything we hoped it could be and more. Side A, "Moment Spacing" is a two-and-a-half-minute blast of "ooh-la-la-la-la-la" joy that wraps a posi+ aura around the world. B-side, 'Bong Judge' is the stoned, slowed down, phaser-drenched, stretched-out basement tapes version of (almost unrecognisably) the same song running at six+ minutes. The most beautiful record we think we'll hear all year. (And we sold half of the 500 copies in the first week, so be quick if you want one). Featuring:
"Moment Spacing" mv * guitars/vox, ee * vox, willie lane * guitar, sparrow wildchild * vox, janane tripp * vox, chris livingood * vox; "Bong Judge" mv * guitars/vox ee * lap steel, willie lane * guitar, samara lubelski * bass, john moloney * drums
Want one? Then do it.

The A Band

Shifting collective that has included the likes of Neil Campbell and Richard Youngs amongst its ranks, the Wire said about The A Band: "The importance of The A-Band to the UK rock underground is commensurate with the explosive impact that groups like AMM, SME or The People Band had on the free jazz and Improv set. An ever-fluctuating group of artists, dole boys, punk conceptualists and record collectors, they were the first UK ensemble to anchor a free drone music in the muscle and scorch of the most high-energy rock, while keeping it as untutored as the most elemental folk."
Trembling Bells
Dream team of Directing Hand's Alex Neilson and Lavinia Blackwall complemented by Neilson's Motor Ghost partner Ben Reynolds and sometime member Simon Shaw, playing delirious volk that creates synergy between the skyscraping fancy of Neilson's frantic free drumming and Blackwall's Patty Waters inspired classical caterwauling, and three/four sets of heels firmly dug into the British folk tradition. This will beggar belief, so we suggest you do not miss it.
The One Ensemble
Daniel Padden of Volcano the Bear developed this twisted folk band as a gentle yang to VTB's abrasive yin. Soaring harmonies, caustic fingerpick and a vaguely Eastern European tinge make The One Ensemble a delight to behold.
Cath & Phil Tyler
American-English husband and wife duo creating close harmonies that have traversed the atlantic in pursuit of a fusion of folk traditions.
Harappian Night Recordings
Cameron is a Sheffield based musician and a member of The Hunter Gracchus who has recently been 'discovered' by the awesome Bo Weavil label. He creates sumptuous, layered, looping ragas that hark back to classical Hindustani recordings, yet with an industrial, abrasive clang that sets him firmly in the 21st C yo.
Ross Parfitt
A member of The Hunter Gracchus who has also worked on numerous occasions with John Clyde Evans, Ross is a sound experimentor with a humanistic agenda, stripping the sound of each instrument back to its most primordial yet captivating his audience with a warmth that belies the process. Today he teams up with Lancastrian guitar hero Jon Collin whose instrument is a natural extension of his being and without which he would seem incomplete. Serious.
Beach Fuzz
Trio of Barry Dean (Axis Mundi), Tom Settle (Serfs) and Nick Mitchell (Eye Hai) creating swirling major scale drone with primal drumming of the Mo Tucker school. Dig.

SAT 17th MAY, 2008, ISLINGTON MILL, SALFORD, 8PM, £5 ticket/£6 door
SCORCES + more TBC
Over here and out there for their first ever UK tour. The duo of Christina Carter (Charalambides) on guitar/vocals and Heather Leigh Murray (Taurpis Tula) on pedal steel guitar/vocals make music that is heady, physical and timeless. Scorces stop the world spinning and portal the listener to places unknown, unkept and starless. Like Earth, Coil or Gyorgy Ligeti they make music of a certain elemental power... it can do these things.

After an aborted attempt in 2005/2006 to get together a zine, we found ourselves getting agitated at having never gotten our shit together. We had a title, BREAD, which we loved, and we wanted to finally make it a physical reality. We contacted everyone we knew and whose artistic output we dug and asked them to contribute. We also received emails from dozens of people we didn't know, people who had heard what we were doing and wanted in. We ended up with a collection of drawings, poems, songs and stories that blew our minds and this launch party will herald their unveiling to the fragment of the world that wants to know. The first ten people to buy tickets will receive a free copy of the magazine/CD plus a poster advertising the event on the night. The first twenty door-paying customers will receive a free copy of the magazine and CD. BREAD features poetry by Oliver Neilson, Christina Carter, Nick Mitchell, Byron Coley and Justin C. Rhody, a short story by Richard Lee Perry, drawings and comics by Nick Mitchell, Fliss Horrocks, Dave Bailey, Rollin Hunt and Lucy Jones, and music by Puff, Directing Hand, Rollin Hunt, Harappian Night Recordings, Beach Fuzz, Astral Social Club, The Hunter Gracchus, Jon Collin (aka John Fante) and more.
