SWEAT RECORDS is Miami's funkiest indie music store and organic coffee house, located next door to Miami's legendary Churchill's Pub (est.1979).
Initially opened in March 2005 by Lauren Reskin and Sara Yousuf, two best friends dedicated to Miami's colorful scene, Sweat survived it's first location being destroyed by Hurricane Wilma and held steady for a while in a small warehouse in the back of Churchill's. Sara left in 2006 to fight the man as a public defender and new partner Jason Jimenez came on board in '07 to help usher in a new era and location for Sweat.
The shop is now back and better than ever in our expanded and fully-stocked new storefront. Our third location brought the addition of a full-service organic coffee counter, wi-fi lounge and event space - come on by!!
Sweat sells a wide variety of CDs, LPs, DVDs, magazines, books, Kid Robot and other vinyl toys, local art, music + etc. as well as a full range of yummy tea and coffee beverages. Everything has been sourced to be organic and fair-trade whenever possible and all of our cups, napkins, etc. are recycled!!
Additionally, Sweat continues to put on tons of great local and national concerts and host a wide variety of in-store events and other random (sub)cultural happenings.
We love Miami and are proud to be a part of such a unique and kick-ass scene!!

Sweat is also a drop-off point for the MIAMI AMP COMPANY. They will fix your broken turntables, receivers or other electronic musical gear and a portion of the proceeds supports Sweat!!

My Interests

The South Florida music, art and design scenes, social awareness, subversive culture, local pride, big ass parties, healthy junk food, fair-trade organic beverages.

I'd like to meet:

Miami's thirsty - for beverages and culture, interns/volunteers who'd like to work at the shop for school credit and some real-life music industry experience, and of course, all the wonderful people who enjoy the aesthetic value of record shopping... Oh yeah, and generous benefactors to help us replace all our stolen gear!!

Classic, current and cutting-edge INDIE ROCK, POP, HIPHOP, PUNK, NOISE, INTERNATIONAL, EXPERIMENTAL and ELECTRONIC music on CD and LP, hot new 12"s, used records, as well as interesting, obscure and avant-garde sounds from around the globe. We also stock the essentials of just about every genre of music.

We have the most comprehensive LOCAL MUSIC section in all of South Florida.

We've got music DVDs from from Air to Zappa, A-Trak to Z-Trip... We also carry pop culture favorites, documentaries, indie classics, cult films, and other random titillating titles.
