The Frank & Walters
City Lights
The brand new single taken from the album
A RENEWED INTEREST IN HAPPINESS
The Frank and Walters return with another 3 minute pop classic in waiting. City Lights, releasing October 26th, is the follow up to the radio and chart hit singles Miles and Miles and Fight, and proves that The Frank and Walters continue to swing the mightiest of pop hooks.
The Frank and Walters are one of the most successful bands to have ever emerged from Ireland. Seventeen years on from the release of their very first record, the Franks continue to defy expectations. Their music today is as relevant as any of the new pretenders on the block and only a handful of bands anywhere in the world can lay claim to such longevity of popularity. Each year, the Frank and Walters perform sell out venues across the UK, Europe, and the US and their records, both new and classic, continue to sell across the world. Their popularity in Asia is such that their classic track Colours will feature in a Thai perfume ad - surely a first for an Irish band!
Acclaimed by Irish and international artists and media as godfathers of Irish indie music, the Franks have played no small part in putting Ireland on the worldwide music map. At the height of their ascendancy, they hand picked their support acts, providing live platforms for bands such as Radiohead, Suede and PJ Harvey. They gave Noel Gallagher his first ever job in music. During a performance on Top of the Pops, Paul McCartney came to their dressing room to tell them how much respected and enjoyed their music. With their new independent record label FIFA, they are responsible for guiding through some of Ireland’s most exciting emerging artists, not least Dublin band Fight Like Apes who are currently exploding in the UK.
Irish Jack Lyons, the man who inspired Pete Townsend’s ‘Jack’ in The Who’s seminal movie Quadrophenia, has just finished writing the Franks biography ‘A Renewed Interest in Reading’ which will be released in mid November.
From the birth of grunge to the end of baggy, from the conception of britpop to the death of rave, The Franks have stood the test of time through it all and continue to make pitch perfect pop music.
