True Delusion

About Me

Brothers Mike and Damian Byrne with Chris Noonan on guitars started out originally as Funky Munky... with the inimitable Brendan Clancy on vocals proving to be a charismatic yet somewhat crazy front man.... Over indulgence in the as always plentiful vices that rock'n'roll can often bring along, Funky Munky were down... but not out. From the well smoked ashes of this band, with the addition of David Murphy on guitars and keys and the rebirth of Chris Noonan as a songwriter grew what would eventually become True Delusion.
The story begins back in 2002.... With some gigs around North Cork playing cover songs of the mighty Led Zeppelin, and The Who amongst others. True Delusion began to explore their sound and develop their ability to master Dynamic riffs, clever hooks and powerful rhythms. Songs and imaginative theme's began to emerge thick and fast.
By the end of 2004, True Delusion were on their feet as a strong band, ready to display their songs and put on performances which would become hard to be matched and trust me they have been busy since!.
Their sound is bluesy, edgy rock and post-punk that is in touch with folk and Irish-trad roots. They have been described as Tom Waits meets Thin lizzy, Rory Gallagher, The Pogues and Horse lips. These boys have something else to offer, a truly Irish sound. .
True Delusion released their debut self entitled album in Jan 2009
