“The club that washed a shore" is how guests often describe the unique atmosphere at Skipper's Smokehouse and who are we to argue?
LIVE MUSIC VENUE
Bathed in a warm and inviting Key West atmosphere, Skipper’s presents a nightly parade of live music under the stars. The architecture is a smorgasbord of "cracker" & islandy-Key West styles. Over-turned boats, wooden walkways, large murals and artfully rusted walls dot the landscape and high walls capture the sounds. Dated fliers and mutated neon splash varying hues of color and atmosphere. Our recently-installed fan-driven misting system keeps the breeze going during the summer while radiant heaters take the edge off on cold evening. With our wide range of music, Skipper’s attracts a diverse crowd, to say the least.
RESTAURANT & OYSTER BAR
The menu focuses on Florida cuisine with tastes of the Caribbean and Louisiana. In addition to our award-winning black bean gator chili, we serve alligator ribs & fried gator tail. Yes, honest-to-goodeness, living-decendants-of-dinosaurs alligator. Other Florida favorites include farm-raised catfish, grouper, oysters, clams & shrimp. In the Oyster Bar, a giagantic vintage still hangs over the proceedings while our friendly staff serves a wide variety of domestic, microbrewed and imported beers as well as your favorite mixed drinks...plus maybe something you've never heard of that'll soon become a new fave rave.
MUSIC, MUSIC AND EVEN MORE MUSIC
Bands from all corners of the globe have graced Skipper’s stage. Folks, we're talking the top names - many Grammy winners among them - in Blues, Reggae, Zydeco, Cajun Roots Rock, Bluegrass, Acoustic, Jazz, Folk and Worldbeat. Acts literally from around the world have graced the stage of The Skipperdome, hailing from the British Isles, Russia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, Nigeria, Madagascar, Kenya, Zaire, Cape Verde, South Africa, Australia... We're not kidding, the list goes on and on. Essentially, we've got a place to crash on every continent except Antarctica and we're currently in negotiations with a troupe of penguin acrobats. Nice people and snappy dressers.
