The Flamingo, The Scene Club, Ronnie Scott's, the Scotch of St.James and Count Suckle's Blues Party were the only places to be seen for the nouveau-riche of the swinging sixties. As well as the soul, ska, blues, rock and roll of the various, and now legendary, clubs there was gambling and all manner of entertainment to be had at the drop of a hat. In the mid-1960s there was nowhere to compare to London after dark.With tougher gambling laws, crackdowns on unregistered venues and strict licensing laws the hey-day of London nightlife may have passed in our opinion but the spirit of the city lives on.
