About Me

SKA and Reggae fans have had a real London experience when the UK Coast to Coast club came back to Gamla on Saturday August 11th 2007.Three years in a row now, as an unofficial Øya-Festival after-party, East London boy DJ Cello, played his blend of Ska, Northern Soul, Funk, and Reggae and Booglaoo at Gamla and it turned out to be a blast. The music policy was the same as COAST TO COAST London - Only The Best Vinyl from the 60’s and 70’s, from Black America to Jamaica. Expect massive doses of Ska, Soul, Funk, Northern, Motown, Reggae, Rocksteady & Boogaloo. As an alternative music club the Gamla club is the perfect venue to host his diverse playlist reflecting the time he spent growing up in Notting Hill during the 70s reggae explosion. When it comes to Ska and Reggae, Cello’s your man… he boast’s one of the rarest record collection and exclusive dubplates.Cello started DJ'n 11 years ago, making a few guest appearances at 'The Big Club' and at 'Deep Funk' with the Legendary Keb Darge and soon after started his own club 'Thunderball' with Jay Strongman. The music policy was very much like Coast to Coast but with a little less Ska & Reggae. After 'Thunderball' came the very successful 'Coast to Coast'. Coast to Coast started at the The Cask & Glass in Marble Arch 7 years ago. Then just over 5 years ago moved to become a monthly, packed and lively, Saturday night at ' On The Rocks' in the now trendy part of town - Old Street, E2. Coast to Coast is currently every Saturday...but will hopefully be back at Gamla in 2008!..
