Wander Songs

About Me

Music with spirit. Music akin to roots, folk, blues, and country, Don Brownrigg is a musician’s musician and just three short months after Brownrigg released his debut Wander Songs, he is surrounded by praise.
"It takes the listener in instantly and, like a good novel, keeps you captivated from beginning to end. Acoustic based, the songs don’t try too hard and aren’t intimidating in any way - it’s just beautiful, truthfully written music." (The Telegram)
Wander Songs, a "prolific musical anthology" (The Coast) and "timeless anthology of thoughts" (ChartAttack) is 11 songs of pensive, self-reflective, and morose imagery. Produced by Brownrigg, this very grass-roots project features many of his friends and some of Canada’s finest musicians providing instrumentation and backing vocals, and was recorded by Halifax engineer/studio owner/musician Donald Mackay at Spaces Between Sound Studio.
In September of 2007 Wander Songs was released to a crowded and eager Khyber Club in Halifax. The strength of the album is affirmed as Don ends 2007 with two East Coast Music Award nominations for ’Folk Recording of the Year’ and ’CBC Galaxie Rising Star Recording of the Year’. In addition, Halifax’s alt-weekly The Coast named Wander Songs as one of their top picks of 2007 and online retailer CDBaby named it their 1 Editor’s pick for ’Folky Pop’ Albums.
In addition to his solo projects, Brownrigg can often be found appearing with other artists, either on-stage or on recording projects. He is also one of four organizers of the In the Dead of Winter Music Festival in Halifax, NS - recently nominated for ’Event of the Year’ by Music Nova Scotia.
Watch for Don in 2008 performing, collaborating, writing, at a venue or music festival near you.
