Tim Smith of Tim’s Myth

The Voyage Continues...

About Me

Tim Smith, singer songwriter, originally from Glengarry County Ontario transplanted to Montreal, has been a mainstay in the folk and pub scenes in Montreal and Ottawa for the past ten years. Tim’s electric project Tim’s Myth won the largest radio competition prize given out in Canada (Big Money Shot). After a long hard year of learning the ups and downs of the music industry and playing over 100 shows, the time was ripe to work on his first life’s-work recordings. Tim hooked up with Montreal based producers David Sturton and Kevin Gault and commenced work on his album. David introduced Tim to his long time friend Jean Leclerc/LeLoup, and a production team was formed that propelled the project into a mythical dimension. Tim has realized his vision and taken his music to a new level. The majority of the album has been cut live off the floor so as to keep the integrity of performances.
Tim’s insightful lyrics and music echo the cares, trials and passions of a generation. His reputation as an every-mans poet is well earned in songs like Sonny and Potter, a playful dance ballad about the love affair between a longshoreman and a stripper. The disturbing renditions of Bloody Diamonds, both the rock and kitchen folk versions, portray the anger felt towards the greed that causes death at the expense of mother earth. Tim’s songs speak for them selves or more importantly, speak to people.
Tim is currently living in Montreal with his partner Roxanne and their two daughters, Lyric and Muse.
