I like to read, to oil paint, to draw, to write, and to listen to music. I like the beach, the mountains, the lake, and the field behind my house when the sun sets. I like used books. I like driving on I-5. I like green olives. I like yard sales. I like old houses. I like maps. I like art. I like history. I like weird people, speaking of...I like hanging out with friends. And I love my kids.
I'd like to meet:
That man in the hat. Something pulled from my imagining so long before this moment. Sketched upon the unseen page in fury and rage from somewhere inside of a need. Finding that hat sitting amongst dusty, musty smelling antiques cluttered about obscuring the view. Finding you amongst millions that did not come near to this unparalleled fit. Seeing the last master-stroke finish the painting with this image, this divine find resting upon your head. I recall what innocence is, in this blissful ignorance of reality, in these undefiled hearts. I am amazed at this complete joy, at this perfection we have found.

Music:
LEVI TUCKER I fell in love with his voice the first time I heard him sing to me... I fell in love with him before that.Matisyahu (I heard it, I bought it), Coheed & Cambria (for all the time), Sublime (for the same song twice, or thrice, or again and again and again), Marley (for seeking happiness, for no worries), A Perfect Circle (for why not), Zeplin (because I love to rock), Beatles (all of their songs), Moody Blues (color of my soul), Tool (they do something to my insides), Joni Mitchell (Blue album is my favorite), Korn (for being angry), Pantera (best show I ever saw in my life), Tosh (for political awareness), Leonard Cohen (for the summer of love '96), Skip James (never got proper recognition), Peter Paul & Mary (harmony), Eek-A-Mouse (for juicy and weedy), Charolette Church (for singing along to in the car really loud), Carol King (for when I feel like a natural woman), Santana (for dancing alone), Mammas&Pappas (groovy), Jethro Tull (I played the flute, isn't that funny?), System of a Down (please give me all of your CD's, I'm poor), Have you heard of Devlish Mary (obscure, but it grew on me), It's a Beautiful Day (anyone? yeah, I didn't think so), Three Dog Night (bought one of their albums for 25 cents), America (the name alone), Jim Croce (because I would love to have time in a bottle), Alabama (because I already like America), Third Day (nice voice), The Doors (of perception), War (the band, not the declaration of), Muddy Waters (If I ever find the punk who broke into my car and stole this CD I will kill him)...many others but I'm a band-name-idiot. I grew up on a lot of old music. I thank my parents for that. Mom was into the softer side, dad liked the harder rock. I have learned to appreciate all kinds of music. I even dig on some country sometimes...and yes, even some of that rap music. ~~~ What it really comes down to with music for me is this: It has to take that blood pumping organ in my chest and pull its strings...literally. I have to feel it inside. And when it touches me so deeply inside that my eyes close and my soul feels it, and moves with it...that is my favorite music. I never have to know who they are, what the name of the song is, or what they look like. I only have to live right there in that moment. Now, that is art, in the eyes of this beholder.
Movies:
Empire of the Sun...I like that one movie Goonies. The Breakfast Club is cool too. That one about Ferris Bueler. Empire of the Sun is still one of my all time favorite movies. I don't really know why. That one I watched the other day was cool.
Television:
LOST!!! Most favorite, because I actually wish I could become stranded on an island, no lie. Heroes... I can't wait until we can catch up with this season because I am having to miss all of it. Medium, very cool and kinda spooky...what happened to it?
Books:
Thousands. I don't remember the names of them all. It wouldn't really be fair to just talk about the few who's names I recall. I'm just the girl who's always reading a book. That's how many.I want to be an editor when I grow up. While I love to write, I think I will have to wait until the children grow up and move away before I actually have time. I love to read. I am known as the "girl who is always reading a book" to those who are trying to describe me. (Or that one chick with a lot of hair.) I remember the first time I lost myself in a book. I wish I had a list of all of the novels I have read in my life. It would really come in handy when I'm shopping or books. I forget what books I've already read sometimes. Some of my favorite authors are Francine Rivers, Ann Rice, John Steinbeck, Alice Walker, Ken Kessey, Jane Green, J.K. Rowling, and I forget the rest... but there's more.
