A 15 year old youth living in a Rotherham commune who realised there had to be more to life. He immigrated to find his Sheffield dream and finally found the place he knew he should call home.
With a musical family behind him, a life in music was pretty much inevitable. And buzzing off his brother’s deep house and dnb hand-me-downs, his desire for more kept him in charity shops for hours digging through the many sounds that begged him to try on for size.
The name came about when Afghanistan was seen as a 'Rogue State' for not conforming to global rule. The politics behind that aren't worth getting involved in, but by jumping out of the music box, being inspired by all sounds and not conforming to the domination of commercial music and rules (genre limitations); Rogue State seems to be an apt name.
From playing the guitar, producing, dj-ing singing and mc-ing in bands, i think it's safe to say that when it comes to music Rogue State's a bit of a slag. He dedicated a good 4 years to Ujigami - a hiphop/ funk band and has been in a few other bands. From 2002 till 2006 he was producing UK G with Mono (Now in MI Loki) under the name Orchestrated Assault.
Since 1996 he's been evolving as a producer with the UK urban scene. He never really settled down to a genre until he went to the first dark crystal night. hearing youngsta play made him decide dubstep was where it was at! Moving in a music world with no rules, let him breathe originality and circulate fresh beats. And at the moment he's heavily involved in Nichestep - that is the crossover between Dubstep and Bassline house.
He's well known for vocal collaborations luring some of the sweetest singers and the rawest, deepest mc’s back to the Dutty Den (his 'studio'). He's currently working on a vocal collab's album.
He releases on labels such as Tricksta Recordings, Bongo Chilli Records and Subtrakt Records but teamed up with the entrepreneurial Alex Deadman, he runs R8 Records.
Rogue is also a resident at Sheffield nights Detonate, Dubcentral/Darkcrystal and Bass Bar; and is part of Sheffields fattest rig Alliance Soundsystem.
