I started freestylin with my man propaganjah back in 1998. we rushed parties and plugged in our mics, no matter what the music was, we stormed stages at hip hop jams and started freestyle sessions all over the frankfurt area. radio x turned into an epicentre of the scene and i hosted a couple of regular shows, at times with more than 20 mcs hungry for the mic. inspired by these cyphers i started to project freestyle rap onto live music, culminatin in a monthly jam session at clubvoltaire, which has been goin strong for six years and countin. the turning point for my musical focus came in the uk, where i lived for a few years, spinnin tunes and spittin ital niceness. fascinated by the soundsystem culture, me bredren and i started to build our own rig in 2005, the mighty SEQUOIA SOUNDSYSTEM! rinsin everyting from roots to ragga, from dub to steppers and chattin over the versions turned our dances into blazin arenas. in the need for ever deeper sub pressure we started explorin a sound on the dub side of step, grimey and yet deep, poundin and meditatin, built only for the bassment. and this is where i am right now, stuck in a postindustrial mirage tryin to connect heavy underground vibes with a ragin crowd, the link between ruff tunage and open ears. in the soundsystem tradition i am a deejay that tears down borders for pure bassline showers, whith the mic in my hand to introduce, support and push this sound past the distant future! bass and love, Instruktah D
