We love bass
Our roots grew from all night student house parties and raves in the Peak District. With our new found passion we continued buying equipment and vinyl and ran the weekly Hot Pot reggae session. After a year of these sessions at the Nottingham House we moved our ever growing sound system across town further away from the bass-phobic residents of Broomhill to The Red House where we continued rattling the windows.
As Sequoia has grown we have worked with many crews, sound systems and promoters to put on as many trouser-flapping parties as possible. We got a van and started stacking speakers monthly in Liverpool with Chibuku and Dreadnought, Preston with Cold up Norf and Daylight Robbery, Huddersfield with Sub-Urbia and occasionally Leeds along side High Pressure while rocking the steel city with guests like Mungos Hifi, Brother Culture and Jahtari in an original sound system style!!
In 2007 on our mission to spread good vibes, bass and love we visited the Cross Club in Prague and Club Zoro in Leipzig armed with the full crew, delay unit and a bag of dubs. Again we were invited to the continent in 2008 but this time we filled our van with as many scoops as we could and wobbled across Europe on our Weight in Motion Tour dropping dubs and baselines everywhere we stopped. This time our mission to spread good vibes was felt in Amsterdam (not that they need it :-), Berlin, Eindhoven, Leipzig, Frankfurt and Frieburg.
At the moment our current Sheffield based project is the Bassweight Carnival alongside Sama Roots Sound System and Cold up Norf, where for one night a month we create a tecnicoloured wonderland filled with eye-candy, bass and love in a carnival style. Mixin up foundation and future bass music, we bringing the festival vibe to the city of Sheffiled.
Lord have mercy.
