About Madonna
Six years of hard work in the clubs of Manhattan and a succession of bands propelled her to the forefront of the New York scene. Mem Mehmet has been an avid follower of Madonna's career since he first heard Holiday in 1983. Working in the Airline Industry gave him a unique opportunity to collect the memorabilia of his favourite star from around the world. Madonna In Art represents the culmination of many years spent searching out images of Madonna, and is Mem's personal tribute to this unique artist. Mem Mehmet lives in London and is a dedicated follower of the arts. He is also a qualified holistic therapist and a renowned salsa dancer. Mem Mehmet was born and lives in London and is passionate about the arts, from music and dance to fashion and modern portraiture. Working in the airline industry presented him with the unique opportunity to carry out his worldwide research for Diana in Art. He has visited numerous art galleries, studios and exhibitions around the globe, seeking out portraits to include in this exceptional tribute to Diana and her life. Author
Roger G. Taylor was born in Southport and graduated from the Cheltenham College of Art. After working for a number of leading London fashion houses he moved into the music industry as a backing vocalist and writer, working with noted recording artists and musicians. Several of his songs have been recorded with great success, most notably by Randy Crawford and Vicki Brown. During this time Roger compiled three successful books, Marilyn on Marilyn, Marilyn In Art and Elvis In Art. Continuing research in art galleries and art studios around the world throughout the twenty years since the publication of the original Marilyn In Art (Elm Tree Books, 1984), has resulted in this new and exciting collection of portraits of the 'blondest of all blondes' - Marilyn Monroe. Roger was recently closely involved in the research for Madonna In Art, and is currently working on the music for two stage musicals, inspired by the lives of Virginia Woolf and Marilyn Monroe.

(New Jersey, USA)I do feel she would've been fond of this book. There are enlightening quotes from a wide source of admirers that cast light on her spirit and life. I am under the impression that Diana wasn't the type to distinguish between the powerful and the common in her regard for people. Mem Mehmet follows suit with his selections which include the unknowns as well as the well established in the art world. I believe this was done in harmony with the way of Diana. Some of the work is serious, some strange, some traditional, some modern, and some simply comical. All are valid reminders of the affection and respect that were intended for her with each of these creative efforts. Most of this art is as original and special as Diana was, and all of it honors her. This new art book shows how others in the art world have viewed Madonna throughout her career. I bought a book in 1984 called "Marilyn In Art". I always loved to every now and then flip through it because it was so much fun to see the different ways these artists drew or painted (etc) the same subject. I happen to be a longtime Marilyn fan.
From what I understand, the author (compiler) of this book, Mem Mehmet, is friends with the author of the twenty year old Marilyn book, Roger G. Taylor (who also did an "Elvis In Art"). I had the paperback version of the Marilyn book, but was lucky enough to get the hardcover version of "Madonna In Art". I am also a Madonna fan (not as much as a Marilyn fan, but...), this book is a MUST for any fan of Madonna! Fantastic, fun renditions of Madonna in every style imaginable, which also makes it great for any artist or art lover. Along with each piece of art is a quote from Madonna herself or a celebrity or author, etc. about some aspect of the superstar which is fun to read. Unlike my paperback "Marilyn In Art" book, the hardback version of this is of the highest quality. Beneath the attactive book cover, the name is embossed in silver metallic ink (which is used throughout the book). Would make a wonderful gift for Madonna fans, artists, art lovers!!! Marilyn Monroe was an icon of our time. It is hard to believe that if she had lived she would have just had her eightieth birthday. And it's hard to believe that she has been dead for forty four years. In some cases she is cartoon like, others more like classical photographs. Each seems to manage to capture some essense of the woman. The book doesn't attempt to answer any of the questions about her death, it doesn't go into a psychological analysis of the likelihood of suicide. Yo lo asimilo por una parte a una vidriera con la diferencia de que cada celda, en vez de ser un color plano tiene relieve, como si se tratase de una salchicha o morcilla de arcilla, como se utilizan en alfarerÃa. Además al utilizar las armonÃas de colores complementarios adquiere una gran luminosidad lo que la asemeja aún más a las vidrieras. En resumen una forma original y luminosa de resolver las formas. These will be helpful in putting my composition together. It was important to me to get your opinion. You have an extensive portfolio of art, which tells me you also have, and extensive art background. I see to that you have thought provoking art, which I appreciate. Your art says interesting things some of which you may not realize because we individually will interpret differently. I probably should have defined my bad art meaning better, but I was speaking more in line with respect. Some thought provoking artists do not consider the sensitivities of people when putting together their work. They can say the same message just by being a little more creative but they do not put the time in that part of the thinking process. Damien Hirst posing with the decapitated head of and old man and selling it as art seemed to lack artistic talent. This seems taste less with no redeeming value. This head could be the head of your grandfather; it then would have a different meaning other than.

It's not much sight seeing over where i live but i do wish to travel the world to see great places and scenery. i bet it really is beautiful down there, no doubt. I have been drawing since about 5 or 6 i believe and got better at it as i went along. All i have been working with greatly is pencil and shading. I wouldn't mind working in other areas of art either if i just had more practice and training. I wouldn't mind doing a show you, i think that would be excitind and new to me. My biggest moment was that I saw Madonna live in Berlin on 19.06.2001. It was so cool, I was standing 4-5 meters from the scene.
