Darren Jordan Shabat aka DJ Absurd has been a fan of Hip-Hop as long as he could remember. Born and raised in New Jersey throughout the '90's Absurd has been exposed to some of the best hip-hop, inspiring him in 1994 to start spinning. In 2000 after years of studying the "Technics" of the game, Absurd decided to start making his own music. Influenced by everyone from The RZA and Havoc to Premier and Dr.Dre; Absurd's style is the epitome of that classic,grimy, hip-hop sound. The humble beat smith is a fan first, and never about gimmicks.- " I just follow my heart, and not what's hot at the moment". Locally, Absurd has been the official Underground EXP. DJ for over 6 years. He has rocked heads at the ground-breaking Fat Caps and Shelltoes shows and the bi-monthly Lyrical Graffiti MC showcase. He has made beats and/or scratched on Crooked Shakespeare's "Is It Safe to Think"(2003), Silent Knight's "Hunger Strike"(2006) and The Wrist's new album(TBA). He has also won numerous beat battles over the past few years. In 2007 Absurd released his debut producer street album "The Resume Vol.1". Not to be confused with a mixtape, this street LP is entirely produced by DJ Absurd. It features Afu-Ra, Killah Priest, and some of the illest up and coming Jersey MC's. Absurd then went on to release " The Resume Vol.2". You can listen to all the songs on the players below and can downlaod them for free by clicking on the free download button below the players.
