Magnetar CD _______________________Magnetar 10" vinyl
Ian Mackaye described us as "Excellent madness" in 2005 when we sent him our first record. On that release, we were also described as "a two-man sonic tag team that uses every limb and brain synapse to give us ADD listeners the ultimate in death metal/jazz fusion and alt-rock, served up in 30-second jigsaw shards" (Phoenix New Times). We navigated the sonic frontier together from 2001 until 2007. In that time we released three limited run diy demos and e.p.s with hand-made silk-screened artwork; and then in 2005, we upgraded to better studios and recorded ’Brain Candy for Insanity’ which was self-released under the moniker Panda Dance Records. In 2006, the ’Magnetar’ ep came out just in time for our debut at SxSW in Austin with exclusive hand-made packaging on our new label Word Up Kid Records. The 10 inch vinyl version of ’Magnetar’ found its way to release in 2007 along with our swan song concept album ’Procession of Lost Souls’ which was released and followed by a short California tour. We toured pretty extensively over the six years we were playing all across the US and into Canada and Mexico. Our last album, ’Procession of Lost Souls’ landed in June 2007 and is available for hungry ears where ever they may be. The circulation for the new album has been pretty lack-luster without a tour to push it, and without our label’s support since they are now defunct, but it is a solid record and we are extremely proud of it. Justin moved to Portland sealing the band’s end but both he and Shane will and do play music. Justin was playing drums in an instrumental Portland three-piece called Nanda Devi and appears on the first ep. He is now working on solo material under the name TYPWRYTRS and playing guitar for Sabotuers of Progress, a Portland doom band, and when Shane’s new musical frontiers are explored, you can bet it will be awesome and mentioned here. Thank you so much for your continued support and interest. It was an amazing six years of fun, passion, travel, friendship and punk rock insanity.

The Phoenix duo Bodhisattva kicks back a bit on this three-cut EP. There are fewer changes-per-minute on the opening cut "Verbatim" than in probably any other Bodhisattva composition. That's not to sa...
