Both these bands are rare things of beauty – and deserve your ass for dinner.
- ArtrockerWow, the ATOMIC SUPLEX track, 'Atomic Suplexed by a Girl,' is a mid-to-faster-paced garage rocker that packs a serious punch. It's catchy enough that you can't help but bounce your head in time with the 'beat.' And it's all over within two minutes; you can't ask for much more than that. When you're all done you feel like you¹ve had a triple espresso. That's right, I said 'espresso.' THE SWANKERS cut, 'Fuck Off,' is just as rocking, but take away a little garage and add some UK power pop. Oh, and it's got the sort of female vocals that just drive me wild. Individually, these cuts would be worth searching out. Together on a single disc, you really need to track this one down.- MAXIMUM ROCK AND ROLLScreaming, overdriven rock n roll compression at it’s best. Atomic Suplex are the British Guitar Wolf, the English Lightning Bolt lightning bolt or maybe the London New York Dolls.
- The Devil Has the Bet TunaBy all accounts a killer split featuring the Swankers and Atomic Suplex and well we do wonder whether this feisty little baby has all the makings of being the best split release this year (or any year for that matter) - you decide
- LosingTodayTotally awesome split-single! The ATOMIC SUPLEX deliver an
Garage-Punk smasher in an incredibly noisy and crushing sound, that
makes bands like the DWARVES or GUITAR WOLF look like neat
Pop-bands...
- X-MIST Germany"I don't know anything about this band"
- Mark Lamarr - Gods Jukebox BBC Radio2It would be fair to say that Sunday evenings in Croydon are usually pretty lame but then came Big Sister’s Pantomime series of events at the local dive known as the Black Sheep Bar. Despite the week I finally dragged my ass all the way down the 75 bus route to the venue was not one of their nights it did turn out to be a rather fruitful night out as your correspondent got the opportunity to see a crazy demented two piece playing the greatest rock’n’roll he had heard since being blown away the mighty Guitar Wolf about nine years earlier. Baring in mind I was ludicrously hungover the urgency and sheer raw power of Atomic Suplex astonished me and actually helped clear my head.To say that they are a rather strange looking band would be an understatement… it actually took me a couple of songs (about 3 minutes) to realise that there were only two people on stage as the singer was decked out in what looked like a 21st century throwback to the 50s biker look (think Marlon Brando meets He Who Can Not Be Named from The Dwarves) as he screamed like a maniac into a mic which was attached to a helmet! These guys obviously love trashy, loud and above all greasy rock’n’roll music which is something which should always be rewarded with attention. This is the kind of band we admire at Rebel Power as they are clearly out there doing it for the love of the music and not in some vain attempt to get rich and/or famous. The songs are short, to the point and so loud and noisy I couldn’t help but full in love with their sound and it is with that recommendation that you should check them out at the following shows: - Rebel Power www.rebelpower.net
“This is probably what Bill Haley sounds like if you have the worst tinnitus in the world. Not so much a sonic cathedral as a sonic corrugated iron shed.â€
- Time out“...every once in a while I ponder giving up hope in music doing anything for me anymore- then I hear a fucking amazing band like Atomic Suplex and I get excited all over again!â€
- Damage effect“Soon to be huge with their Ramones in a blender sound and their furious live showâ€
- Croydon Wired“Undiluted, bone-crunching punk, served with an interesting drilling sensation deep inside your brain.â€
- Cherryade“Almightyâ€
