About Me

N.B. PLAY THE SONGS LOUDLY - slight case of studio under-recording!
I'm from Scotland (presently living in Glasgow) and have been involved with music all my life - mother was a professional singer, father sang too and played piano, accordion, and fiddle so I didn't have much choice!
I worked for 15 years in professional rock bands and God-knows-how-long semi-pro mainly singing but also playing guitar or bass before getting into the teaching profession (Spanish/Italian and now I.T.).
I write a lot of songs and worked for a while musically with Alex Mack - a talented multi-instrumentalist, writer and performer - in THE OUTFIT.
In March 2005, we produced a studio album recorded with the involvement of Ted McKenna and Chris Glen of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. I have some songs from the album plus a live track at my MySpace Music site.
The management side of running a band drove me nuts so I'm now doing solo work showcasing those of my songs which fit better in the singer/songwriter category.

May Monday Holiday at The Clutha

Two weeks in a row where the public well outnumbered the performers! Pretty good if you want to sell a CD, not so hot if poor ol' Bobby's got to play half the night. I approached the matter philosophi...

19th May 2008 Clutha Open Mic

A strange night - usually we have a plenitude of performers and a modicum of members of the public. Tonight, 'twas all in reverse. Still, the punters seemed to be having a good time so all was to the ...

Monday at the Clutha 12th May 2008

Somewhat quieter than last week's wild affair but still very musically sound. I did my usual half-hour stint and managed to cram in 4 originals: The Devil Ain't A Friend Of Mine, It'll last Anoth...

Wanted: acoustic musos!

I've been trying out a lot of new material during my Monday nights at the Clutha and have a couple of good sets picked out. I'm going to start chasing up the singer-songwriter circuit and also think a...

Open Mic in the Clutha: Monday 6th May 2008

Probably the best night yet for the Monday Open Mic. It was a bit quiet to start with so I had a chance to try out a few new covers, "Bird On A Wire" and RB Morris's "Roy" went down well, and did my o...
