THE NEXT SWEET SOUL BURLESQUE EVENT will be on November 17th at DollHouse Studios; it's our annual tribute to our beloved and much missed friend, the late Alexis Mazurin. This is the third annual event in his honour and we're calling it a "Salute to Alexis" and it will be a UNIFORM PARTY - so start digging for a uniform... sports, fast food, medical, cop, military, construction, fireman, janitor, waitress, waterboy, etc. etc. etc. ANY UNIFORM will do. Proceeds will be donated to the Emmanuel Boyz Rescue Centre in Nairobi. See latest blog or flyer for details!

Sweet Soul Burlesque is the vibrant, critically acclaimed burlesque troupe from Vancouver, Canada. From ribbon staffs to giant venus fly traps to life-sized jack-in-the boxes, Sweet Soul strives to break the mold by creating fun, ground-breaking burlesque events that are of high production value and unequaled sassiness. The troupe works together to inspire each other and other women / lovers of women to enjoy themselves and their sexuality and to rekindle their sense of playfulness and confidence.
Sponsored by burlesque-inspired fashion design company Sweet Soul Designs , the troupe was formed in 2003 by designer Cara Milk, producer Crystal Precious and choreographer Cherry OnTop. Appearing now with the troupe are seven fabulous perfomers from heaven, including underground pin-up icon Little Miss Risk, 7-Studios creator Your Little Pony, media guru Miss Rita Star and rock n' roll darling Jailbait Jenny.
Encouraging artists of all kinds to collaborate, the troupe works with countless special guest dancers, poets, beatboxers, MC's and DJ's. Their self-run rehearsal/prop shop headquarters, DollHouse Studios , also attracts local film producers and photographers.

Sweet Soul Burlesque has been featured in the Globe & Mail, CBC Television and Radio, Global Television, Fashion TV, City TV and MTV Canada and has appeared at hundreds of events, including Showcase and CBC's season wrap parties, the Sistahood and Fringe Festivals, and fashion shows for designers such as Betsy Johnson, Wolford and Fluevog.Sweet Soul are the co-producers of the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival (with Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society ).They also appear regularly in self-produced theme cabaret shows in Vancouver. Recent self-produced shows include last year's "Boylesque", "Battle of the Sasses", and the comic book character satire "The Comic Strip Burlesque!". Fall of 2006 brought in two delicious events: The Twist Party with the World Famous Pontani Sisters , and Sweet Soul's largest production to date, a cabaret featuring Ninja Tune recording artists The Herbaliser at the Plaza of Nations.
