Nick Hall

a folk rock gem for the 21st century

About Me

Nick is one half of the acoustic band, The Hall Brothers and has been a semi-professional musician since 1991, going fully professional two years ago. As a member of the Hall Brothers Nick has played all around the country, in Ireland and Holland and has released two albums independently and three albums through the indie label Confidential Records. In 2003, Nick began performing seriously as a solo artist while his brother was making waves in the world of academia. He has worked on the singer-songwriter circuit in London with great success, and has supported Hugh Cornwell, Glenn Tilbrook and Black among many others. He has released one studio solo album, The Golden Time, through Confidential Records that got rave reviews and sold well. Nick has also used this time to explore new collaborations including the occasional act ’Hall & ONeill’.The latter duo, featuring Nick and actor/musician Chris ONeill (star of Backbeat and many other films) came about when the two were introduced by mutual friends at a gig at the Buffalo Bar venue in Highgate, London. Also as a result of this meeting, the Hurts Like Hell e.p. was recorded by Chris and his colleague Dave Reilly (ex-drummer/songwriter with China Crisis and The Real People). Nick was overwhelmed by Dave and Chriss generosity and musicality.Hurts Like Hell is a collection of two of Nicks most requested songs lovingly re-recorded and lavishly produced (Patching Up My Soul and Big-hearted Northern Boy) with the addition of the sweeping, sixties-influenced Hurts Like Hell, the spare balladry of Undertow and a slice of politically-conscious folk-rock; The Man Apart.Nick is also now a professional actor, having worked on two theatre shows, ’Entrenched’ and the hit show ’Life Of Pi’ which just finished its 4 month tour at Greenwich Theatre. Here is a link to one of Nick’s early albums ’Time & Tragedy’ by The Hall Brothers, now available on iTunes... more of the back catalogue to come! ..and here is a link to ’Songs From The Shore’ - now available on iTunes ..
