Obsidian's Dream is a unique band from Central Iowa.
In the fall of 2003, talented singer/songwriter/guitarist/trumpeter Chris "Shaggy" Zeitler and his friend, the guitar-slinging arborist known only as Fook, were looking for a new project in the wake of the breakup of the band Silas Marner, a folk-rock group known for its great lyrical content and for its overall Zeitlerness. Along came one-time heavy metal drummer Duff and local reggae-rock/jam-rock veteran keyboardist Dean Erickson. After one practice followed by a first performance at a friend's Halloween party, it was decided that further endeavors should ensue.
Impromptu shows with guest bass players convinced Silas Marner's ex-bassist, the elusive Bert, to join his old band mate Shaggy and the new crew.
Obsidian's Dream was born and this unlikely group has been gigging non-stop ever since. The first album, "Hide and Seekers Grove" was released in 2005. The band is currently working on new recordings and constantly bringing new original songs to the stage, as well as some fun and interesting covers - always with an OD twist.
OD had strange adventures in Wisconsin and Minnesota in 2006, and shared the stage with great regional bands like The Big Wu and Public Property.
2007 shaped up to be Obsidian's Dream's best year yet, where we played at premier events such as the Briar Patch in Bevington, IA and Wakarusa Music Festival in Kansas. During the past year epic times were had in the college towns, the big cities, in small town honky-tonks and at blissful gatherings deep in the Iowa backwoods.
Late in 2007, noted physicist Terry ascended the drum throne, from which he dictates edicts of rhythm, taking OD on a new journey of brand new crunchy delights.
