My good friend Scott Parrish asked me to come downtown Chicago to shoot this video in the CANTV studios. All he said was "You are going to smash a TV with a sledge hammer." How could I resist. When I got there, I saw he had made helmets outta three silver TV's for us to wear to be the studio band. FUN.

HISTORY:
The Chicago Peace Festival is one of the longest running completely free / non-profit community festivals in Chicago and has been ongoing for more than 15 years. FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE WINDY CITY PEACE & HEMP FEST that started on Cricket Hill way back in the day. This year the fest evolved into the Peace and Freedom Festival as a way to be more inclusive of a larger audience and also to showcase a holistic vision of social change.

ACTIVITIES:
The festival is known for it’s live sounds and massive drum circles. Come out for a day of free music in the park and dance yourself silly into the night. Bring your hand drums if you got ’em. Also, there are more than enough people ready at any given second to throw around a Frisbee which we will be giving out 200 for free this year! Of course there are going to be people wanting to bust a hack so bring your footbags. And you know the festival is just a quick walk away from the beach so you’re going to want to bring your swimsuit and towel so that you can go take a dip in the lake to cool off. Many people like to bring a chair or even a small tent and grill to really settle into the camp for the full festival experience.

LOCATION:
This years festival is being held at LINCOLN PARK just south of the zoo. The approximate address is: 1700 N Stockton Dr., Chicago Il, 60614
The festival grounds are just a quick stroll away from North Avenue Beach by talking the walking bridge over Lake Shore Drive. So make sure to bring your swim suit and towel!
The exact spot of the stage will be located just a tad bit northeast of the corner where Stockton meets LaSalle Dr. This is also right off the North Ave. exit on Lake Shore Drive.
TRANSPORTATION:
DO NOT DRIVE TO THE FEST! Really there is pretty much nowhere to park so save yourself a lot of trouble and PLEASE...TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION or else have someone drop you off. There is a pay parking lot directly across the street from the festival on Stockton Drive but it will cost you 25$ a day.

TRAINS:
CTA Train Map
To get there by train you can take the CTA Brown or Purple Lines and get off at Sedgwick, or the CTA Red Line and get off at the North / Clybourn exit, or the CTA Blue Line and get off at Damen. The Brown and Purple lines are the closest. The Blue Line is the farthest and will be about a 3 mile walk. You can transfer to any CTA train in the loop. What ever train you take, just start heading east towards the lakefront and find Lincoln Park.
