Â
TIPS TO REMEMBER!
Â
Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on, or set up a tent to camp out for the day. Bring a cooler and have a picnic, or buy some fresh food from one of our vendors. The beach is just a stroll away so bring a swimsuit and a towel if you’re planning on taking a dip. There's gonna be a wild drum circle so bring percussion instruments if you got 'em. Also, it is often difficult to find parking so it’s best to ride your bike or take public transportation. And most importantly, tell all of your friends!

Â
BIKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Â
By Bike: A good way to travel is to bike the Lake Front Trail which is just on the east side of Lake Shore Drive. Just ride the trail to the North Ave Bridge and crossing it will lead you directly to the fest.
 Â
By Train: Take the CTA Brown or Purple lines to Sedgwick, or the Red line to North / Clybourn, or the Blue line to Damen. The Brown and Purple lines are closest (a few blocks away). The Blue line is the farthest (3 miles away). You can transfer to any CTA train in the loop. Whatever train you take, when you get off start heading east towards the lakefront until you arrive at Lincoln Park.
Â
By Bus: To head North / South take one of the following buses: 22 Clark, 36 Broadway, 151 Sheridan, 156 Lasalle. The fest is located in Lincoln Park, just south of the zoo, so get off at approximately 1700 N. (This is about 1 block north of North Ave which is 1600 N.) Â
Â
Check out the CTA homepage (http://www.transitchicago.com/) for more information on Chicago’s public transit system.
Â
 PARKING
Â
It is often difficult to find free / meter parking around Lincoln Park. There is a pay parking lot directly next to the festival on Stockton Dr. If you are gonna drive it is a good idea to car pool.

Â
Â
MESSAGE TO ORGANIZATIONS:
Â
Organizations are welcome to FREELY set up a tent or table. This event is a great opportunity to hand out literature or DVDs, to get petition signatures, to speak out and raise awareness of important issues, to network with other people and groups, and to promote progressive local action. There will be a limited time allotted for an open microphone in between musical acts to briefly speak on the PA; just let us know at anytime during the fest if you would like to say a few words to the crowd.
Â
There is no need to sign up or register in order to participate; you can just show up at any time. Get there early if you want to grab a good spot. Find a member of the Peace Fest Staff by the stage if you need any help.
Â
Also, you can send an email to
[email protected] with a brief paragraph describing your organization, mission, and cause in order to be included on our website as a participating organization.
Â
 Â
DROP OFFS AND PICK UPS
Â
There is a service road that runs through the park that is accessible near the corner of LaSalle Dr. and Stockton. This road can be used only to drop off and pick up equipment such as tents, tables, chairs, etc.
Â
MAP: http://tiny.cc/a2k6u
Â
Please drive very slowly through the park. Vehicles cannot be parked on the service road and must be immediately moved after drop offs and pickups. There will be a member of the Peace Fest Staff available near the stage if any help is needed to load or unload and carry equipment to and from your vehicle.
Â
Â
SECURITY
Â
Tables and tents can be kept backstage overnight (on Friday and Saturday) so that you don’t have to haul everything back and forth each day. A security guard will be hired to watch the area. We will do our very best to keep your stuff safe but the Peace Fest is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
 Â
Â
Â
VOLUNTEER!
Â
The Chicago Peace Fest is one of the longest running entirely free community festivals in the city that is able to successfully run each year by the help of hard working volunteers who devote their time, money, and services. We can use your help! Please contact us if you would like to help by volunteering a resource or service and being involved as a member of our production team.

PEACE!
Â
Â
ABOUT THE CHICAGO PEACE FEST AND OUR MISSION:
Â
The Chicago Peace Fest offers a safe, peaceful, and welcoming space where people can gather as a community of friends and neighbors in order to share the sensational experience of lively music, fine art, entertainment, and wholesome fun created for the purpose of reviving life forces and awakening latent energies while also inspiring, motivating, and empowering people and organizations to participate in a radically progressive social movement.
The festival features a wide variety of local music and performing artists displaying the richness of the city's cultural diversity. The scene will be set in our beautiful city park by the lakefront in an atmosphere where people can feel at ease, relax, and have the chance to enjoy a memorable life experience amongst friends. Within this setting we plan to use the opportunity to promote a full spectrum of local initiatives, encourage progressive social activism, and to facilitate the event in order to help bridge community networks.
The ultimate mission is to bring people together in the spirit of peace and unity to promote progressive social change and focus upon working as one organized movement to solve common problems and initiate radically holistic reforms.
We want to bring together people from all walks of life and include all local communities, social change organizations, unions, political parties, religions, nationalities, ethnic groups, and cultures. This event offers a social networking opportunity where people will have time to meet and get to know many of the distinguished local activists who are diligently working on a variety of social issues that affect us all.
The Chicago Peace Fest is geared toward empowering participants of the event with radical alternatives, progressive ideas, potent information, positive direction, encouragement, and also a team of kindhearted, wise, and skillful friends who share the same vision of promoting sustainable peace and who are interested in working together cooperatively to resolve social conflicts, advance mutual goals, and support the common cause.
