About Me

Music:
is my life. I've been a professionally paid performer since the age of 16. Originally from Iowa, I did a lot of voice over work for radio and TV, working with Metro Studios who's diverse client base covers a large amount of nationally based companies, M-C Audio, and Barmuda Corp. (with the midwest's notorious P.J. Stoppleworth, now of Voiceversatility.com ), to name a few. My voice over and jingle spots have aired on local and statewide TV and radio, some of them have aired for over 10 years. I've been in a band for over 15 years, currently married to a guitar player that was hired to fill in at a few of my gigs. LOL. My husband Matt and I have been performing together since 1999.
Performing Arts:
I love to dance. When I was in High School, one of my dreams was to sing and dance at theme parks like Disney World, or do voice-overs for animated musicals like 'Beauty and the Beast'... (I know, don't even say it...). Then I discovered that Disney is the root of all evil... right up there with Kenny Rogers. LOL.
I danced for 6 years at a techno/dance club as a 'go-go' dancer... and no one ever believes me when I say, "honestly, I didn't take my clothes off!" Dance is my exercise of choice (okay, my ONLY exercise) and I still get to be creative!
I have many years of theater experience, both performance and make-up. I miss it sometimes, but get mad when I think about the fact that I'm only talented in things that DON'T make me any money!!!! DAMN IT... and the rest of my family is clueless as to why I was cursed, they all have no desire or talent to even begin to figure out how my brain works, so I am their alien child/sibling.
Visual Arts:
I shoot a lot of photos with my Nikon: live bands, promo shots, and art/structural photos. I've been dipping into the photography world for about 3 years. It's a great hobby, when I can find the time, and don't get too hung up on the cool effects in Photoshop.
Both of my grandmothers were very into visual arts. Though my dad was adopted, his mother painted and gave a few private art lessons out of her basement (studio..LOL), I was her pride and joy in that department. My mother's mother was an Italian immigrant. She made some absolutley amazing abstract pottery, along with some beautiful vases, pitchers/drinkware, and painted/kiln fired pieces.
I am lucky that I inherited/learned their painting and visualization skills... yet another thing I can't make money doing! LOL
Personal:
I have 3 cats (kids) and they are all TOTALLY insane... I think they get that quality from me. I have some amazing friends, who love me despite the fact that I am horrible at returning emails. I talk WAAAAAY too much. Emails are worse.
I'm kid-sized (wee), awkward at times, and, according to the Texas Commission on Child Safety, I'm two inches away from having to ride in a booster seat. I'm a writer. I'm extremely unrealistic. I'm a stubborn little kid. I'm a procrastinator. I have a million ideas floating through my head every second. I have a lot of invention ideas, but never get around to looking into pursuing them.
In Geometry class as a kid, I always had to stay after class to prove that my 'proofs' were right.. despite that I always had at least 10 extra steps; I still came up with the right answer. Seems as though that kind of thought process has stayed with me... and kind of sidetracks me at times. I make things harder than they are, therefore, the process is usually longer.... mostly coming up with the right answers, I just take the wrong detour!

My Interests

Singing, writing, dancing (anyone out there who doesn't want to hit on me, but loves dancing??... I swear I can almost dance to anything, as long as I am having fun)!

I'd like to meet:

anyone who is willing to listen to me talk..... so far, it's not workin' out for me too well, but hey... sometimes I include "you should probably shut up now", and "Sorry, I can't talk right now, I have to go clean my toilet" as legitimate conversations. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------

Music:

Old Country and rockabilly: Louvin Brothers, Osborne Brothers, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, Janis Martin, Wanda Jackson, Connie Smith, Skeeter Davis, Melba Montgomery, Bonnie Owens, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Elvis Presley, alternative country/roots rock: Lucinda Williams, Gram Parsons, EmmyLou Harris, The Byrds (Sweetheart of the Rodeo era), Buddy and Julie Miller, Patty Griffin, Kasey Chambers, Bill Chambers (Dead Ringer Band), Jayhawks, Kevin Welch, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakum... (there's too many more)... I like unique voices, and great musicians who listen to each other when they play together. Dancing music is another thing in itself... it's not the music so much that I like, it's the mood and feeling that moves me. It's like a rollercoaster ride that can stop on a dime.

Movies:

Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Boogie Nights, Natural Born Killers, Apocalypse Now, JFK... and I like really DUMB funny movies (but I am too embarrassed to put any titles down).... okay, I'll just say that I have to watch the movie Kingpin about every 6 months or so.

Television:

I am addicted to Family Guy. Stewie is my hero. I have a few other Cartoon Network shows that I am guilty of watching as well. I don't care. Watching Cartoon Network can't make me any less intelligent than the primetime BS that everyone my age is "supposed" to be watching. Let ALONE the fucking NEWS, WTF??? Adult Swim is the most amazing marketing idea that any network has ever invented..... Futurama, Moral Orel, Aquateen Hungerforce, American Dad, Home Movies...(the first season is really hilarious); I love them all!

Books:

If I can't read it in the bathroom, then I probably haven't read it... (you should check out the 'Field Guide to Elvis Shrines"). Very interesting bathroom reading. No, seriously... I have not been reading much lately... I desperately need NEW GLASSES; until then... reading exhausts me and puts me to sleep. $$$$ I am so BLIND!!!

Heroes:

I envy people who know exactly who they are, what they want, how to get it, and let nothing distract them from the path that they have chosen. Someday, I hope to be one of those people. Until then... I will continue to face the person I see in the mirror every day.

My made up quote for the duration (until I made up the another one).

Sometimes, I actually find myself humored by the child in the restaurant that continues to ask their parent, "why?" after they've been told (for the third or fourth time.... with amazing restraint) to...

My thoughts today

I decide, sometimes, when I look in the mirror, that there's some flaw that I can fix, and it will make me feel better. I look at it, and look at it, until I've looked so long that it's not there anym...
