About Me

Raised in a musical household in Waco, Tx.; took to drums on introduction to Ringo Starr and Charlie Watts. Like many musicians my world was changed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer's 1973-74 Brain Salad Surgery World Tour. A standard for art-rock drumming was defined by Mr. Palmer then, and I resolved to pattern my drumming after his. Finally completed the Bachelor of Arts degree in music from The University of South Alabama (Mobile) in 2003, which led to a teaching assistantship and completion of the Master of Music degree at Penn State University in 2005. It has been my privilege to work with several good orchestras, especially those in Alabama, Pennsylvania and Texas. On the classical side, timpani and 4-mallet marimba have been my strong areas. I caught the bluegrass bug BAD while in Pennsylvania and so 5-string Scruggs-style banjo is now an ongoing love affair. In addition, I've recently picked up electric bass guitar, hoping to prepare that for public performance in this lifetime. During all this, I've had multiple addresses in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Ontario and PA. If I can contribute to your sound--country, orchestral/chamber or rock--let me know! .................Some of the folks and bands I've had the pleasure of making music with during the past year or so: Detroit Steel, Rick Hornyak, Temple (TX) Symphony Orchestra, Terry Taylor & Shilo, Rita Jones, Patty David, Jon Dotson, Ed Kliman, Seth Truett, Billy F. Dee, Pedernales Playboys, Neil Flanz, Bill Starrett, Bryan Brazier, Wes Hayden, Troubadillos, Jim Grabowske, Pauline Reese & High Country, Kelly Kenning, Kazki, Lars Albrecht, Dale Allen & Genuine Cowhide, Chip Sneed, Ryan T. Briggs & the Redneck Hippies, Pete Mitchell, Johnny Gimble & Family, Dale Watson & his Lone Stars, Sonny & the Starfires, Michael Petty, Dag King, Matt Brooks, Sixgun Republic (NYC), Joseph Monyer, Bert Ybarra and Studio Cats Prod., Roz, Velvet Brown (PSU) tuba & percussion, Audiomoxie Recording, Roy Heinrich, Junior Nash, Nob Hill Billys, Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Melody Mann, Brent Allen et al, The Dust Devils, Haywire, Tobacco Road and a host of fabulous musicians and people within those bands. .................Also, I've had the pleasure of substitute teaching in orchestra and band at area high schools like Round Rock and McNeil High, and middle schools like Canyon Vista, Cedar Valley, Chisolm Trail, Grisham, Burnett and Hopewell. There's nothing like teaching a young musician to play their best!
