Music! films, books, TV, people, live shows, drinking and discovering new things!
I'd like to meet:
Like minded people with an interest in strengthening the UK music scene and indulging in good live shows, films, books and chatter!
Music:
Hip Hop (from the good old days of O.C, Organized Konfusion & Leaders of the New School to the new sounds of Little Brother and the always on point Talib Kweli on the US side and from London Posse to Klashnekoff, Plan B, Braintax & co from the UK)
Neo Soul (although I hate that term!) (Erykah Badu, Jil Scott, Angie Stone, Terri Walker, Joy Denalane, Dwele),
Grime (Crazy T, JME, Doctor, Demon, Skepta, Jammer, Frisco, Wiley (Eskiboy - what a tune!!), the whole Run The Road family and more),
Jungle (old school stylee with heavy vocals),
Dancehall (Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel, Beenie, Bounty Killah and all those heavy mixtapes I picked up in JA!).
I listen to anything with a heart, with soul. Where someone's given thought to what they are saying! Sick of 50 Cent and BORING mainstream US shit. Who cares about Fabolous, Nelly, blah blah blah!! Also can't stand techno, hard house or any of that banging shit!

Movies:
Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, Trading Places, Coming To America, Donnie Darko, Scarface, Metropolis, History Of Violence, Memento, Scanner Darkly....
Television:
Generally love stuff like; Sopranos, Sex & The City, ER, Boondocks, Curb Your Enthusiasm, West Wing, The Wire, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Dave Chappelle Show, Red Dwarf, Shameless (northern humour at its best!),Peter Kaye,.....
Books:
Any sci-fi or books that look at the darker side of human nature. Philip K Dick, JG Ballard, Ray Bradbury, Aldous Huxley & Jeff Noon to name a few. 'Cloud Atlas' although a bit of a head fuck to read is a HEAVY book! (thank you Raquelita!)
Heroes:
Creative people who make the most of their talent!! That may sound cheesy but I really respect people who have a skill and aren't afraid to use it. Don't listen to those moany pessimists who say 'you'll never make it' just believe in yourself, get the right info/support and push your way through.
