Global Youth is the name for Lets Go Global's creative media projects for young people aged 13-19.
The focus of the projects is to empower young people with the skills and confidence needed to create their own digital content, relating to topics and issues that affect their own lives.
The projects currently being delivered are:
GTV PRODUCTION CREW
July - December 2008
Tuesdays 4-6pm
The GTV crew are currently working on a series of news reports on events and activities available to young people across the Trafford and Manchester areas. They recently filmed at the T-Youth Community Festival and the video can be watched below:
Over the coming months the young people will be reporting on: The Process 08 Hip Hop Festival, Gorse Hill's Centre Stage music event and creative workshops at the Zion Arts Centre and Contact Theatre.
FUTURE VISIONS
September - December 2008
Thursdays 3.30-5.30pm
Working in partnership with Trafford Housing Trust, the Future Visions project will provide a range of regular workshops with young people, peer mentors and local community members to create a short film which will highlight potential solutions to managing youth gangs and violent crime in Old Trafford. The project will build upon a Guns and Gangs research project facilitated by Trafford Housing Trust earlier this year.
The Future Visions project is funded by Trafford Youth Offending Service through the PAYP scheme.
All projects take place at Lets Go Global, 3-5 Malvern Row, Old Trafford, Manchester, M15 4FD.
Projects are free and open to young people aged 13-19 from across Trafford and Manchester. Priority is given to those young people who lived in Old Trafford, Gorse Hill, Stretford, Hulme, Moss Side or Whalley Range.
