I am here for Friends

About Me

I don't know who is responsible for putting this banner together and putting it on the web, but I am so in agreement with it.
Myspace Contact Tables

I started this my space initially to simply connect and make friends, to be sociable. As time has passed, this site has morphed into a sounding board for issues. It is my mission now to open a dialogue in an effort to raise people's awareness of what is going on around them.
We need to stop spending. Stop spending our valuable time being consumers and begin using our time to make the world a better place for our children and our neighbors. If you are a parent you owe it to your child to learn about the issues that are shaping our society, and, to do something with the information you gain. Knowledge is power they say. But it is only power when it is coupled with action. Knowledge without action is like the a garage filled with nicnacs and other junk. Worthless until its put to use.
It's time to get off your butts and do something people. If you are new to this, I suggest reading up on how to think effectively. Learn how to form critical thinking skills and practice that art. Become responsible for your own future. Don't take everything at face value. Find out what the truth is for yourself. If you are relying on your government, your boss, your minister to give you the truth, you are wasting your child's inheritance, your friends respect, and your own potential.
READ, LEARN, GROW, DO. Become the person who will change the world. One step at a time is not too difficult.
What is success? In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson....
"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.":
Isn't time you helped build a brilliant future for mankind?

My Interests

My interests are as varied as my taste in music. I like being outdoors hiking, swimming, climbing, beachcombing, laying in the grass, crawling up a tree. I love animals, insects and mammals of all kinds. I love the sky, the sun, the moon, the clouds, the stars and the rain in June. I enjoy chess and football, and baseball too. I enjoy the olympics, and soccer and figure skating. I love comedy and drama, and musicals. But I have a darker side, too. I love the philosophers: Socrates, Spinoza, Plato, and others. I've chased after God, witnessed UFOs, and seen my share of hard times.

I'd like to meet:

Okay, I'd like to meet everyone, because once we'd met, we would be family and learn to respect each other, at least on the most basic level - and that's a start. We still might not agree on things, but at least we could be honest about it without expecting to go to war over it.

Music:

THERE'S NOT ENOUGH SPACE HERE FOR ALL THE ARTISTS I LIKE! BUT, HERE ARE A FEW: Santana, Kitaro, Carpenters, Gladys Knight, Heart, Clapton, Earl Klugh, SRV, Amethystium, Chicago, Elvis Presley, Elvin Bishop, Bert Kaempfert, Chris Cain, George Harrison, Chi-Lites, Stylistics, The O'Jays, Manhattans, Temptations, Robert Cray, Beatles, Elton John, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Dick Haymes, Glenn Miller, Miles Davis, Son Seals, Hippy Troupe, Grass Roots, Pink Floyd, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker, Nat King Cole, Tish Hinojosa, The Guess Who, Vusi Mahlasela, Bee Gees, Dionne Warwick, and more and more and more.
I love Rock, the Blues, Jazz, Classical, Big Band, Tejano, German, African, Polka, Rockabilly, Country, Easy Listening, Pop, Folk, Roots Music, R&B, Soul, The Motown Sound, Funkadelic, and almost any genre out there.

Movies:

Pirates of the Caribbean; Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery; Lord of the Rings Trilogy; Harry Potter Series; Bobby Deerfield; Wedding Crashers; The Breakfast Club; Grizzly Adams; Jeremiah Johnson; Ever After;

Television:

My absolute faves, ones that I could watch again and again and again and again? That's tough, because I don't like TV that much. If I had to pick some: Frazier. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The Carol Burnett Show. The Honeymooners. Here's Lucy. Who's Line is it Anyway? The Crocodile Hunter. Anything with Robin Williams or animals or nature. PBS. History Channel. Home and Garden Channel.

Books:

Ishmael. Rich Man, Poor Man. Overboard (by Hank Searls). Plato's Republic. Anything by Og Mandino. Demosclerosis. The Twilight of American Culture. Poetry. Philosophy. Humor. Politics. Anthropology. When I was a kid I liked comics: The Archies. Swamp Thing. Iron Man.

Heroes:

Carlos Santana. Bob Marley. George Harrison. John Lennon. The O'Jays. Bert Kaempfert. Their music speaks of brotherhood and love and compassion. Ralph Waldo Emerson. Henry David Thoreau. Ghandi. Nelson Mandela. These guys all stood up for the value of the person. They challenge(d) the oppression of the corporate preservation.

Anthony Robbins. Og Mandino. They write about and convey the importance of examining the 'self' and working to find congruency and integrity. And, finally, Socrates. His method of inquiry is legendary and the standard by which all else follows.
