I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a 50's style rock 'n' roll DJ working out of the East Midlands and also the web master for The Rock 'n' Roll Spot www.therocknrollspot.com I am also the lead singer for The Rockin' DJ's Rock 'n' Roll Band. I am in an extremely good and satisfying relationship with my partner Carol and have been for the past 12years. I have one of the most supportive partners in Carol you could ever wish for. I've been involved with the rockin' scene in one form or another since 1962, when as a 17yr old, I joined my first band as lead singer. Within a couple of years we were on the road as a pro outfit working throughout the UK and doing a couple of really good tours of the continent taking in France, Germany and Spain. My website, www.therocknrollspot.com is an attempt to give back to people what I have gained from rock 'n' roll in its many guises over the past 40 odd years, and is a labour of love and an absolute passion. Check out therocknrollspot.com "Can't Stop - Keep Rockin' Kid"

My Interests

I like reading, writing (especially on the subject of Rock 'n' Roll) and being in constant touch with my two lovely daughters and equally lovely grand-daughter. I also like history and trying to find out what makes people tick (if you know what I mean)

I'd like to meet:

Other like minded 50's style rock 'n' roll musicians / DJ's etc and people connected to the scene.

Music:

All genres except Opera and Modern House / Dance. I like in particular 50's style rock 'n' roll both from back in the day and the modern bands. My favourite artists are: Fats Domino / Jerry Lee Lewis / Little Richard / (early) Cliff Richard / Elvis (upto mid 60's)/ Eddie Cochran / Gene Vincent / Bill Haley / Doo Wop (especially jivin' Doo Wop)/ Jump Blues and Rhythm & Blues.

Movies:

Any films that have a bit of grit to them and portray life as it was or should be. One of my favourites is "Mississippi Burning" staring Gene Hackman.

Television:

I go more for the documentary programmes and "wild life" in particular.

Books:

Biographies on any interesting people.

Heroes:

Far too many to list here, but really anybody who has tried to make the world a better place.
