About Me
My profile was recently hacked so I had to go in and remove pretty much all the html code (because some hostile code was slipped in) and return it to a simple state. I will be redoing it over the month of May with a new custom layout and new slide shows so stay tuned. Back to the profile....Howdy disco citizen!Welcome to the official DJ Chris Allen MySpace profile! So ya know, the sample dj sets posted here are an example of what I have done before and what I can do for you if you hire me as the dj for your event. These audio recordings are intended for promotional use only to highlight my programming and technical skills. Like a photograph, they capture a moment in time.I am Chris Allen - a Texas based DJ, radio personality, musician, & writer.
Yup. The same one. That sorta queer dude with the hottest picks & the latest dish with his bits Groovelines Aloud and Grooveline Gossip during the hot central Texas mixshow Hypersonic every Saturday night at 10 pm on 101X in Austin. The one that throws down those serious electronic beats every Tuesday night at Oilcan Harry's in Austin. That one that let's you have it relentlessly when you party your ass off at Halo every Friday night in Bryan / College Station. The same guy that pounded the system at Threadgill's in Austin with phatt dance beats when he djed a private birthday party for Austin meteorologist Jim Spencer. The same guy that Stephen Moser of The Austin Chronicle still calls his "favorite dj." The one that spins all those fashion shows for Macy's in Hoston and Dallas. The dj formerly known as Dig'm. Yup. I am that Chris Allen.
I am currently available for private bookings to spin your next party, function, or event. I specialize in popular progressive house, electro, and circuit. I also have no problem spinning hip hop and 80's parties. For more info e mail me at chrisallen at djchrisallen dot com and please title it "DJ CA BOOKING." I am looking forward to talking to ya!
AND NOW, ABOUT ME:Once known as Dig'm, I've been djing clubs, parties, and events all over the great state of Texas since 1992. I've been in the biz since 1998. I've played in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth, Temple, Galveston, San Antonio, Corpus Christie, and Bryan/College Station. Originally from the bay area of Houston, I moved to Austin in 1992. I started spinning at this club called Oilcan Harry's where I stayed put for nearly 10 years. That was followed by some time playing at Splash, Twist, Rain on 4th, The Boyz Cellar, Dick's Deja Disco, The Empanada Parlour, Guava Lamp, Charlie's, The Paggi House, and even after hours at a gay bath house to name a few. Along the way, my guest spots have included several Gay Pride festivals, opening events for the circuit parties Meltdown, Perfect Day, and Rip'd, over a decade of First and Last Splash Days on the party barge out on Lake Travis in Austin, several fashion show/receptions at Macy's in Dallas and Houston for Out magazine, I-N-C, Calvin Kline & H.R.C., pool parties galore, and many many more.
Currently, I am spinning in Texas 6 nights weekly. Recordings of my sets are played in bars, cars, pubs, and clubs all over the world. My current residency is at Oilcan Harry's in Austin. I returned to the club where it all began in January of 2008. OCH was listed as one of the top gay bars in the world by Out magazine in 2007. You will normally find me spinning to a packed house every Friday night at Halo in Bryan/College Station. I play at Guava Lamp in Houston at least 3 times a year.
I've been writing music since I was a kid but never really got serious about it until after my father died. At first, the music was my therapy. Then, the unfortunate events that took place after Bush became my country's president un-elect only encouraged me further to pursue a life and career based on art, creation, and positivity rather than the negativity of destruction. I have released 7 self produced albums under the name Stiletto, Texas since 1998. My eighth is due out in 2008. All are available directly from me. Check out the MySpace profiles www.myspace.com/djchrisallenmusic, www.myspace.com/discokittydelux, as well as www.myspace.com/stilettotexas to hear more.I write for the biweekly central Texas based gay entertainment e-zine called Shout. Check out www.shouttexas.com to learn more. Until the end of 2007, Shout was a printed magazine. In January of 2008 Shout was reorginized and became an e-zine. My regualr column, Groovelines, is a music review and mention column. I have interviewed music celebrities like Annie Lennox, Pepper Mashay, RuPaul, Rachal Panay, Georgie Porgie, Peter Rauhofer, Giuseppe D, Thelma Houston, Francis Preve, Manny Lehman, Jason Jenkins, Bananrama, Michael M, Junior Vasquez, Mimi Rossi, Cyndi Lauper, Jacinta, Jenna Drey, and many more. Groovelines has been running since the launch of the magazine every issue for well over 3 years now. Samples of my writing are available from me and by checking out my blogs here at MySpace. Many of these articles will also be published on the web at www.gigcreator.com beginning in Febuary of 2008.You can hear me live on the radio every Saturday night on 101X during the hot central Texas mixshow called Hypersonic with my bits - Groovelines Aloud & Grooveline Gossip. Every week I tell all the good folks in Austin, Texas all about the latest and greatest from the world of dance and electronica with a bit of home grown thrown into the mix. My bits air around 10:45ish and 11:15ish. Tune in and check it out. It's fun, fresh, and quite very.Basically it is my understanding, I'm just here to spread the groove ya'll. And I gotta say, I love this damn job!
