"The Best Thing" For Sale!

About Me

If it werent sitting on her coffee table right in front of her, Paige might not believe it herself. After years of waiting (five-to be exact), Paiges vision has become a reality with the release of her sophomore album, The Best Thing. Released on her own label, Greeley Records, The Best Thing offers eleven original tunes, showing both a musical and lyrical maturity that Paige fans might not have thought possible. Paige teamed up with returning producer David Rice along with newcomers Alain Johannes (No Doubt, Queens of the Stone Age, Eleven), Natasha Shneider, Chris Sorensen, and Stu Big Stu Brantley to create a sound that is uniquely her own. Hidden track Smaller Than You Think was recorded in Paiges apartment studio using Apples Garageband program.Paige began playing guitar at the age of fourteen, when she casually dusted off her moms old Ovation and purchased a book entitled How to Play the Guitar. What started as a form of self-entertainment quickly became a more public matter. In her hometown of Katy, Texas, people began to take notice. Producer David Rice, posing also as Paiges uncle, helped record a demo that landed on the desk of Word A&R rep Brent Bourgeois. With only two years of playing and songwriting under her belt, Paige signed her first record deal with Word Records at the age of 16. Following her 2001 self-titled debut, Paige toured the country and overseas promoting the release. Armed with her acoustic guitar alone, she captivated audiences and shared the stage with many talented artists including P.O.D., Switchfoot, and the Newsboys. As if her touring schedule wasnt demanding enough, Paige also managed to write four songs for fellow Word artist Rachael Lampas sophomore album, Kaleidoscope. She won an ASCAP award for the upbeat single Im All Yours. Fresh off of her spring tour, Paige made the hard decision to leave her Nashville-based record label and pursue opportunities in Los Angeles.Barely eighteen years old, Paige loaded up her car and signed the lease on her first apartment in LA. Just blocks away from the beach, Paige began writing and recording the songs that would eventually become her new album. She began showcasing around town with her newly formed band, frequenting the legendary rock venue the Viper Room as well as more acoustic settings such as Genghis Cohen and Molly Malones. She was also invited to perform at a showcase for Warner Television executives with the pop/rock group Vertical Horizon. In addition to playing shows, Paige was hard at work in the studio. Producers Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider took notice of Paiges songwriting talent, and together they crafted the edgy songs Open Your Eyes and Love Is. David Rice produced and co-wrote the songs See You Again and The Best Thing, which landed in the Ridley Scott film Matchstick Men. Paige also began recording with producer Chris Sorensen (doubling as a member of her band) and Stu Big Stu Brantley. After a successful run on the west coast, Paige made yet another hard decision and moved back home to Texas in the fall of 2004. She is currently studying advertising at the University of Texas in Austin. It is there that she runs her label, Greeley Records, and promotes her new release, The Best Thing. Filled with songs about the struggle of growing up, the album reflects the exciting and sometimes painful road that the 23 year old has been on over the past few years. Perhaps Paige says it best: It is impossible to express in words the journey that has led me to this point in my life and in my career. The songs, though, begin to tell of the pain, the joy, the heartbreak, and the hope. The songs tell the story.
