We started as the Maryland Gryme Officials. A group of artists and musicians who came together to bring a unique signature sound of non-loop based (chopped-up) Hip Hop out of Silver Spring, Maryland. Gryme (dirty dumpsters, graffiti, freight trains, pissy alleyways,Bills and Washingtonian rated "cheap eats" carryouts) was the main focus of the sound, using dusty records and analog gear to create the music. We wanted to let people know that we were doing our Maryland sound which was/is not a duplicate of others such as the vibe and history of the state. We were also tired of being discriminated against as individuals in the local scene because we weren't sounding like everyone else.
After a 2.5 year period of time ,unforseen difficulties arose within the group that forced Maryland Gryme to become a thing of the past.
At this point, the remaining members (Professor M,The 16 Bit Czar, and Audiotroph) decided to bury the MD Gryme collective and create something new. The original motive is still there but, we're also doing this to keep the last heartbeats of a dying art form alive which we love dearly, and bring something correct for the new generation of children out there who are being brainwashed by mainstream music.
At the moment we're working to replenish the studio and get it back up to par. The MD Gryme album which was almost done and set for release will still be brought fourth when resources are regained. For now, we are currently making music and moves. Thank you to the heads who have supported us and showed us love and we love y'all right back.
