RELEASES...
Labor: Described by the artist (Ian Bradley) as a 'milestone' in his development, this EP blends the glow and ambiance from his debut 'Viva', with newfound sophistication in rythm and intensity. Drawing upon a wealth of global percussive influences and richer, fuller vocal threads than Slouch's previous work, the songs create a sound of their own, blending a scratched, historic tone with an energetic, modern cinematic feel. During his work on the album, which was originally intended to be an LP, the sound evolved so much that Ian felt he had to separate the newer work, and give it it's own EP. Many of the other tracks originally intended for 'Labor' can be found on the simultaneous release entitled 'Travels: Rarities and Rereleases'. Labor features the long awaited singles "Kaleidoscopes" and "Black Coffee". Now available through Snocap and iTunes.
Travels - Rarities and Rereleases: Travels is a handpicked selection of the best and brightest tracks by Dj Slouch that, for various reasons, were never released between his time in Providence in 2006 and is many subsequent moves throughout New York City until 2008. Various flawed record deals and twists of fate kept many of these tracks on the back burner until he decided to go solo in late 2007. Now available through Snocap and iTunes.
Skylines EP: Coming soon...
In a time when the electronic music scene is suffering from what some would call a stylistic identity crisis, DJ Slouch (Ian Bradley) has emerged as an artist unafraid to stand by the medium's virtues and possibilities. This 24 year old Brooklynite, born in Washington D.C. and schooled at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, is on the frontlines of the downtempo scene, carrying the torch of genre-blending, relentless sampling and turntablism that is all too often giving way to the indie notions of nu-rave and electro-rock adopted by an audience weary of the lack of innovation and drive from the genre's more seasoned artists. His upcoming hardcopy debut, Labor, packs a newfound rhythm and intensity into his forte of ever-escalating sound collages. The result is a passionate attack on the simple notions of what chillout is supposed to be. He currently hosts the monthly electronic arts event, SYNC TANK, with DJ Kuma on the lower east side in Manhattan. He's also partnered with NY residents Tom Phonic and A-Ux to throw the new OUT OF SEQUENCE parties at Karma Lounge.
