Jonah David is a drummer and percussionist who has been playing, teaching, and recording professionally since 95. He has toured Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, Middle East and the US and plays a variety of styles including Jazz, Pop, Funk, Hip-Hop, Break-Beat, Reggae, African, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music. He has toured with groups such as King Django (Epitaph records), Brooklyn Funk Essentials (Shanachie records), Jean Grae, Flaco Navaja, No Discipline (Retrieve records), Maggie Kim, Joshua Nelson, Dominic Kanza, Weldon Irvine, Etienne Stadwijk, Bruce Williams, Joan Almedilla (Lead singer of Les Miserable, and Miss Saigon), Butta (Rock Steady Crews B-Boy Band), Braindance, Everywhere, Moss Bluff, Lysa Flores, Esza Kaye and most notably, 4 years of touring as a founding member of Roots Tonic with Epic recording Artist Matisyahu; Jonah is featured on Matisyahu’s 3 albums, “Youth”, “Live at Stubbs” and “Shake off the Dust”, and one DVD, “Live in Israel”.

In addition to contributing to other numerous group and solo projects; He has also played in traditional Samba Schools in NY and NJ Including “Sambanditos” out of NY and leading several parades with “Amarello y Verde” a Samba School in Newark, NJ. As an educator he has retired as an instructor from the Jazz institute of NJ, where he taught Samba, Drumset and Piano. His television appearances include: Jimmy Kimmel Show, Late Night with Dave Letterman, Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey Show, Carson Daly, Late Late Night with Craig Ferguson, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Bigtime with Steve Harvey, Good Morning America, Much Music (Canada), Jools Holland Show (England) and the Late Late show (Ireland). Jonah endorses Sabian Cymbals, Trueline Drumsticks, Evans Heads, Factory Metal Percussion and DW Hardware and Drums. Jonah is available for touring, studio recordings and is currently touring with Columbia Records Artist Jesca Hoop.
