About Me

Writing

often it is the only
thing
between you and
impossibility.
no drink,
no woman's love,
no wealth
can
match it.

Charles Bukowski

My Interests

Surviving. Writing. Meeting people who give me something to write about. And dogs.

I'd like to meet:

People who give me ideas to write about. Maybe even them.

To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence. -- Mark Twain

Music:

Eclectic. I love Panic! At the Disco's style of naming their songs.

Movies:

Good writing appeals to me no matter what the setting. Closer had some excellent words.

Television:

I realized the few shows I watch tend to make me look far too in touch with my feminine side, so sod off! No preview for you.

Books:

Love them.

Heroes:

People who do the right thing, no matter what. Ah, but how does one know what the "right thing" is?

Ten fun(?) food facts from me, as required by The Man and his nepharious tag. 1)  I'm taking a nutrition class. It is, by far, the most depressing class I've ever indulged and that includes readi...

You knew the job was dangerous when you took it

We've all heard about drug resistant bugs.  Sure, the press has sensationalized them but they are real and they are part of every day in health care.  There are things living in patients tha...

...and a diet Coke, please

Call: Lift AssistMy first assignment to a lift assist call certainly sounded ominous.  The call was to go help another unit take their patient to an open-air MRI.  MRIs are usually very smal...

pimpin pt 2: Bukowski

This is one of Bukowski’s short stories.  Let’s hope I’m not sued for the unblessed exposure in my attempt to bring more readers to his table. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN TOWN C...

pimpin pt 1 Chris Moore

These are three bits snatched from the pages of Christopher Moore’s Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff Christs’s Childhood Pal. Yes, it is a bit irreverent. "The first time I saw the man w...

"Inevitable" sucks

It was bound to happen.  A patient I took to the hospital died after we turned over care. I didn’t think he was that bad.  As the rig was heading to the ER I sat with him and we spoke ...
